I dont get this. I have checked numbers of distance covered and we are running the same amount more or less than other teams. As far as contested, crash and bash style, the other mobs are also crashing and bashing with us and they seem to be getting through our games better than us.
Distance at speed? Distance per minute on ground?

The simple answer is not some convoluted copium plan involving less training.... If you're running for fitter later in the season. You're doing heavier training now so you can ease up. Aka what Brisbane and Collingwood both did last season. Normally heavy before season into management. Not lighter. That doesn't mean you're fitter later.

Townshend was on the Board a few years ago as well Bletch.

Carlton are without doubt more likely to finish in the bottom 4 than the top 4. Far more likely. Top 4 is genuinely in the realm of fantasy.

The $126 for the wooden spoon is actually a decent bet. Probably the best 100-1 shot I've ever seen, in fact. Lose to Hawthorn, lose to Bulldogs, lose to Collingwood... Media pressure gets out of control. One key injury away from disaster etc. It's not hard to see it unfolding.

And we don't have a first round pick 🙂
I posted this two weeks ago and everyone laughed at me.

Didn't take long but are we all on board now?

This is the worst team Carlton have had in for 20 years.
Worst 22? Debatable I guess, but no.

Worst list? No.

Poorest list in terms of balance? Still no.

Slowest list? Still no, but only just.

We're in a slump at the moment though, and too few can consistently contribute in key areas, just perhaps what I think are key and what Voss does don't exactly align.

Na, we won't finish last. I don't even think we finish bottom 4. We're in that 10-14 range I think. Closer to 14th though.
It's pretty easy to say you don't think we'll finish bottom 4... But who are the teams we will beat? It is impossible to say with any confidence that there is a single team we are better than. Could see us maybe knocking off a dispirited Port team in Melbourne, maybe West Coast.

Teams like Gold Coast, Adelaide, St Kilda, North will absolutely smoke us. Collingwood and the Bulldogs aren't much chop, at all, and they accounted for us with relative ease.

The only thing that might engender a few more wins is the 'new coach bounce', should the move be made soon.

I will add Melbourne as a team we can probably jag a win against, they play a similarly shocking brand of football and are also jaded/dispirited. Essendon, maybe, but they will treat it as a Grand Final and our players have given up on Voss, so unlikely to have the requisite fight.

I don't believe this form will continue all season. I'm under no illusion of where we are at this season but we will play better during parts of this season than we have done the last month.

I get what you're saying but the players seem absolutely cooked mentally, to me it appears to be one of those (familiar) troughs where the only thing that will arrest the slump is a change of leadership (coach).

Just as an aside, I feel like the Camp Curnow thing was also a double-edge sword in same ways. When you have those frank conversations with people, and there is a positive response, if the old habits slip back in there is no going to the well again.

Like, if you've told people how shit you think they are, and then they do better, but then kind of return to the shitness, they are virtually conceding that they are in fact unable to deliver, and everyone just floats along awkwardly without addressing it.

Direct messages like that only work once.

The last two weeks has been Carlton’s “hold my beer” moment to “Why would TDK not want to play for Carlton?”.

He’s gone.
Maybe he’s not as flakey as most here?

We have no idea what he’s thinking.

It’s obvious his agent is milking it for all it’s worth & well done to him.

Our shitty start doesn’t automatically translate into CFC as a house of cards & everything is hopeless.

But they drill them at the Filth. And at HaHawthorn
Think you are cherry picking, but how would you know

Did Hawks teach Amon, Impey, etc how to kick?

And for some amazing reason their players do it better than we do?
Point in case, draft quick, elite footskill players, because if they don't have those traits, they won't magically appear

It was the same concern with Walsh, didn't have the kicking skills of a Smith in the same draft year

Yep

Amon, D'Ambrosio, Sicily, Impey, Ginnivan, Watson, Scrimshaw and Moore have always been excellent kicks of the footy.

Could argue they've improved Worpel, Newcombe etc but for the large part their elite kicks have always had the talent.

I know because their coaches say it publicly, and they do it well. While our coach doesn’t, and we’ve been poor at it for too long.

It’s not about elite kicks. It’s not about high IQ players.
It’s about improving the basics across the board.

You could improve the middle 70% of your list’s footy IQ by 5% through training. That would make a massive difference to the results.

You could improve your efficiency (real efficiency not Champion Data’s formula) by a few % by having players more consistently getting to the right spot in more space and not being flat footed.

Despite how poor we’ve been this year, with gun players out or well down on fitness and form, we’ve been in our games.
Sharpen up a little bit, on things that are definitely improbable, and we’d be winning.

Sure, improve the aspects of the gameplan you want to run with, but you still need the skill set in player characteristics

Do you think we can improve the fundamentals of Fogarty to run faster and kick beyond 50, rather than 40? No

Teach Newman to kick on his right, Ollie to put on 10 kilos, Walsh the same, Ben Campo to kick Sicily, Lewis Young to mark like Casboult
