You don't have to campaign for something or tell people to vote for something to support it. They made it clear where there support was. I'd say Kate Jenkins had some input into the statement.

For example Chaplin tried to take on Nahas in their back 50 with only those two in there and Nahas caught him holding the ball in our elim final. Absolute classic.

I think it was a smart move. You need to read between the lines. Translation: we support a YES vote but a football club isn't going to tell grown ups how they should vote. I think it's quite ballsy. I like it.

No. Politics, whether we like it or not, is a clumsy, obvious business.
When the Club made that statement it must have known that it would, as it has, atracted significant adverse response from all types of ppl including, especially, Carlton ppl, strongly opposing its soft **** stance.

I just have no idea why they would deign themselves 'relevant' enough to make a statement on this issue when their stance is literally laughable. Whoever signed off on this needs to be sacked.

I recall other occasions where Carlton have made a firm stance and were criticised because the club has no business using itself as a political vehicle. Then they reveal their beliefs but stop short of directing supporters who to vote for and they are criticised for not being political enough.

People hear what they want to hear and if it does not match up directly with their own wording and voracity reserve the right to express anger as though the actual words were polar opposite to their own beliefs.

I have a couple of same sex relationships within my close family circle. I'm quite comfortable that they haven't gone down the activist route as an entity. That in no way means the individuals at the club aren't out there supporting equal rights in this matter.

This is what confuses me. If I say I am voting yes, that isn't campaigning or telling others how to vote. That's just a poor excuse.
