To further rub salt into the wound, an opposition full-forward turned in a Coventry-like performance with 12 goals at the other end.

Ironically Gordon Coventry handed Essendon the Wooden Spoon the last time Essendon won the spoon. He could have a hand in delivering it's next spoon.
