Looks alright to me , certainly gets a lot of hyper extension
There was one ball to Harris that got replayed a few times. View from behind the bowler clearly showed a bent elbow with arm straightening on release. Very difficult to see real time and couldn't pick it up with any certainty on normal deliveries. But this one was definitely there. I have watched very little of him during the series. Odd how one over highlights this action.Looks alright to me , certainly gets a lot of hyper extension
A few guys batting for their test careers today
Thats the issue I think , in real time at that speed its almost impossible to get a definitive look and slow mo makes everything look worse. There was one ball to Harris that got replayed a few times. View from behind the bowler clearly showed a bent elbow with arm straightening on release. Very difficult to see real time and couldn't pick it up with any certainty on normal deliveries. But this one was definitely there. I have watched very little of him during the series. Odd how one over highlights this action.
Wouldn't make any difference to the results in this series, though.
Doubt it. Selectors still have nothing to pick from. They are more likely to put it all down to simply getting walloped and it's a confidence thing. Then send them all to England.
Tim Paine after the match:
The message to everyone in domestic cricket is to keep scoring runs.
Clearly, that is not required for selection.
Yes, but at least the bowlers playing test cricket are proven. Siddle as a backup is still pretty handy.Same goes for taking wickets too.
That was me . If fit I would take him to England , best English conditions bowler have and I think could be an X factor there for us . IF FIT .Yes, but at least the bowlers playing test cricket are proven. Siddle as a backup is still pretty handy.
Someone mentioned Worrall but my only recollection of him is getting absolutely pasted in South Africa.
Thought he was a bit stiff to get the boot when he didNevill also has a pretty good batting average (comparatively), just quietly.
Issue with Paine saying that is that means Burns and Wade should be picked against Sri Lanka , I’m tipping they won’t be .
Interesting article on Fox Sports by Tom Morris. Talks about an article on Cricket Australia's website stating 30 was the new 50. Something to do with the frequency of scoring 30 runs. This has justified selections - Finch reaches 30 in 56% of his innings and so his selection is justified. Head was third on the list. Glenn Maxwell is only 22nd on this ranking so doesn't warrant selection despite having and average >40.
So Head gets a gig and plays himself in regularly to reach 30-ish, then gets out. But he has maintained his regular achievement of 30+ scores. Doesn't matter that he never gets to 40, let alone make a ton.
CA got what they asked for - scores of 30. Unfortunately it is not enough to win. Six of India's top 7 batsmen had a FC average over 50. The 7th was 46.
Never before has an Australian side completed a home series where the top score was less than 80.
Reports that Pucovski and Renshaw in
If correct I’m happy with that
I’ve had one normally reliable source tell me Renshaw also in but things can changeI heard Pucovski was in last night. Nothing on Renshaw.
I think we really are biding time until Smith and Warner return . Personally would have been happy without Warner but the performance really isn’t there to keep him out.Agreed.
I reckon Warner will be back in for the Ashes and partnered with Harris, which means that Renshaw won't be back for the foreseeable future. Might play the Sri Lanka tests and go to England but short-term, runs or not, can't see him cementing anything.
To be honest, I'm not convinced about Joe Burns' technique at test level. Plays that little waft shot outside the off with no footwork - just a get-out shot every time.
For me, if Warner and Smith are back for Ashes, I'd be getting 'the future' in there ASAP. Pucovski, for me, only rests on 'how he's doing' because he has the technique and mental game to play tests. I'd be batting him at 5 or 6.
Yes. Burns, Pucovski, Renshaw, Siddle in the squad of 13. Three openers apart from Khawaja. One will miss out.Marsh bros, Finch and Handscomb out?
Unless they bat Burns at 3 and push Usman to 4Yes. Burns, Pucovski, Renshaw, Siddle in the squad of 13. Three openers apart from Khawaja. One will miss out.
