Hi. Welcome.
You can possibly view the case documents in person at the SA State Archives. Their website tells you how. Debi Marshall had a researcher going through them I believe. Roles & McInerney are both in SA so I assume the same.
The 60 minutes episode is not available online. Charlie was going to ask for a copy but I don't know if he ever did.
Kipling would have recorded his interviews as part of the police investigation. I wouldn't expect that these would be available to the public though.

Thank you very much for this information!

Good work!

I believe you were too far north on Smith Rd as there didnt appear to be any droppers between the posts in the footage you shot.
This was where i initially looked using Google Earth too, however, i realised the droppers were missing so i moved south toward Middle beach Rd and there is a fence and gates that divide the paddocks, after that point the fence has droppers.

Yeah, I thought of that afterwards that I went too far north. I was going to continue walking south but thought people would get bored of any more footage of me walking! There was so much territory to cover. I originally was going to film all the way along Middle Beach Road but that would have become too repetitive. Such is life!

I was also thinking about the key chain found at Tea Tree Plaza....unfortunately it might never be confirmed that this key with a key chain shaped like Australia was actually Peter's...The ebook claims that Peter owned a key (chain) like that, but unfortunately the store owner who found it on the floor only kept it for a week before throwing it away. I believe that it was indeed Peter in the company of NB who was seen at Tea Tree Plaza - with the eye witness account and the key chain being the two major angles.

Debi's new book Banquet: The Untold Story of Adelaide's Family Murders is out Tuesday August 31. If anyone has Amazon Prime and hasn't taken advantage of free 1 month Audible subscription (2 free books), it is a good option to listen to the new audiobook for free :) (just remember to cancel the subscription before end of the month so you don't get ongoing charges).

I've pre-ordered both the paperback and the audiobook, have been looking forward to it for months and months, Debi is Australia's best true crime author imo.

Also very pleased that Debi is narrating the audiobook.

I used to like her but I think she threw Szach under the bus. I also thought she conflated unrelated crimes.

I will still buy and read her book, but I’ll do it with an open mind.

Yep, l remembered the height factor; would be quite a stand out, seated or unseated. Also remembered the hair variations.

Time to consult scrap books, old photos and historians re BVE cousin.

It's a small world Bits, squawk, Dell43!

1984. Oh what a year!

All aside, we probably moved in the same circles and understand Adelaide and it's minority groups at the time more than most. We recognise places, situations, possibilities, scenarios, locations etc. Getting caught up in it all could've been oh so easy for anyone vulnerable or adventurous.
DropBearess how did you go with your search for images of BVE at Norwood oval? Did your search include any other ovals? There maybe a link between North Adelaide/Prospect Oval and the AB, PS & RK cases. The ebook has him at Adelaide Oval the day KG & JR disappeared (North v Norwood). Geographically Prospect Oval was the closest to his house and also just down the road from his beat starting at Scotty's Hotel. The ebook has PS wearing a a North Adelaide jumper the day he went missing. Does anyone have information about PS being a North supporter and attending home games? AB was attending games at Prospect and RK was there 21st May 1983.

Does anyone know of the address or surname of the home Mark Langley attended in Windsor Gardens on the night he was abducted? I believe it was an 18th birthday party.

Banquet is interesting... I found the recount of the recorded Manock lunch interview fascinating, some interesting revelations. Not so keen on the Silence of the Lambs serial killer drama vibes by Debi's recount of her visit to the Port Augusta Prison to visit BVE. Interesting the businessman's name is mentioned in the book, but in another context and the connection is not made to the businessman's identity.

Manock is a bizarre character isn’t he!

I'm about a quarter of the way through Banquet. By far the most fascinating is the insight into von Einem's psychology. If only we had more of this. All the characteristics of the serial killer are there. The compulsive lies, the fantasy world, the fixation with status. A true psychopath.

When I read it I took it as Debi's layperson diagnosis, it reeked a bit of sensationalism to me for the purpose of the book. Has he actually been diagnosed as a psychopath? The whole Hannibal Lecter innuendo was silly in my view, maybe Debi see's herself as a Clarice Starling.

BVE has been making scones for everyone in prison in his little floral pinnie for years now, not butchering people who come near him... Was interesting to read Debi take a large dig at all the people online offering up their views on things, a large part of what she is saying is unproven hypothesis... some of it more likely than others I think, but still merely that. A bit rich to be taking digs at others, of course she has done a lot of research but without proof it is all conjecture.

In case anyone would like to put a name to a face, this is Manock's now wife Gaby, before she became 'Mistress Gabrielle' and set up her medical procedure dungeon, taken 9 March 2003 at the Queen's Arms Hotel :rainbow: Gaby obviously not part of the Family trans scene (she is way too young), but interesting to see Manock's taste in the ladies. It was also very interesting hearing the recount of Debi's recorded interview with Manock when he told Debi about the lawyers' party at a house in the Hills with the boy's body in the inside swimming pool... insinuating that is how that body was 'washed'. He said he knew who the people were at that particular party in the Hills but wouldn't name them.

I'll wait until someone provides an honest appraisal on this script. I'm not into sensationalism. I've read excerpts and her words border on that ...

The good part is the case is in the public eye again. Channel 7 in SA rolling with this as their headline.

Unfortunately Adelaide has a sordid history when it comes to child/ adolescent deviance.

I was once very close with the eldest daughter of Deiter Phennig. Different case, I understand but this all brings memories very much too hurtful to bear at times ....

I will say this. The clocker (we all know who this is but I won't name the *** ****) needs to now be held accountable.

A main instigator. How does everyone think BVE had all those privileges? I worked in the Privacy Department for Correctional Services in 1990. I've seen the file.

Thicker than a clenched fist.
