Apologies if this reflects inattention to the thread but I have not seen direct references to films before?
“The wheels of the first version of the Family nearly fell off with the murder of Stevenson. Something had been suggested or planned that even Stevenson himself couldn’t stomach. Rumors suggested that there had been a stern request for Stevenson to supply his young lover David Szach as a victim for a violent pr0n film, or possibly even a snuff movie to be shot in the near future, and Stevenson had refused. Whatever he had refused, it had cost him his life.
Convicted pedophile Ric Marshall once bragged to one of his young victims that he obtained a violent film depicting a boy in a forest from Derrance Stevenson. Mrs Mary Gambardella, the estranged wife of Gino later named a man who had allegedly taken possession of the snuff films that had been stored at the Stevenson home. The man we will refer to as ‘Peter’ had been somewhat of a henchman for the earlier version of The Family and had somehow ended up with the very films that brought about Derrance Stevenson’s demise.”

The reference to the earlier iteration of The Family mentioned in McInerney and Roles book is interesting. Is this merely sensationalist writing incorrectly linking different groups together or something more? I know it has been discussed in earlier comments on this thread, but what are people's general thoughts about the linkage between Stevenson and BVE?

The posters I personally found most convincing were those arguing that Stevenson and BVE both had their own "groups" which were in a similar orbit (the gay scene in 70s Adelaide wasn't huge), but weren't closely connected. Also, we know BVE and others had been drugging and raping young men since possibly the early 70s - meaning they ran parallel to Stevenson's so called "soirees."

I don't consider this account at all credible. No such footage has ever surfaced.

Which is why I said “allegedly” throughout my original post. My response quoting sections of the two books was to illustrate that the alleged films have been mentioned previously.

Marshall’s book is riddled with errors. Roles & McInerney are all over the place.

As you rightly point out, there is no proof (in the public arena) that they exist. Bob O’Brien’s Young Blood refers to extensive investigations into snuff movies that ended up going nowhere.

Thanks for the answer and the discussion. I was wondering whether there had been some other corroboration.

Films have been mentioned in lots of places, but as far as I know there is no definitive proof. For example, Mary Gambardella alleged (in an interview) that Gamba regularly picked up teen boys and filmed them. She claimed to know the person who retrieved home-made films from the secret compartment at Derrance’s house. The films have never surfaced.

I don't know about snuff films, but videos and photos of boys almost certainly - we know BVE was a polaroid kind of guy from the diaries (got to wonder who got rid of all of them or where they wound up!) and certainly sounds like Derrence was up to no good with the video camera

Trevor Peters was a friend of my parents for many years before he died in 2013. I met him on numerous occasions too and he was a likeable guy - outgoing and gregarious. So I was naturally pretty surprised in 2014 to see the Advertiser article about his diaries.

Anyway, it led me to ask my father if he ever met BVE (through his friendship with TP). It turns out he did - a few times at parties and around the place in the 70s. He said BVE came across as "a bit of a creep who would hit on you" but who otherwise seemed pretty nondescript. I guess the latter part fits with the cardigan wearing accountant image he liked to project, and is also similar to how you might describe numerous other serial killers throughout history. Again, through TP at parties, my father also met some of the trans women allegedly involved and DSD a few times - but doesn't really remember anything much about them.

As other posters have said on this thread, there really seemed to be only two degrees of separation in Adelaide when these murders took place - which makes sense considering the Adelaide

Yeah, the more I examine this address the more I think that it's probably not the block of flats. Also I'm not sure how long Trevor Peters lived in Shipsters Road but if he lived there in the early 1980's surely he would remember that the flats that Denis St Denis showed him were in the same street as his house instead of writing in his diary that it was "somewhere around Norwood, Kent Town or Dulwich".
Trevor didn't live there in the early 80's. He moved there approx 2000.

Document below is a receipt of items reviewed by police after the death of Trevor Peters. We are all aware of Trevor's diaries outlining information about a number of key suspects but what about the last item on the list. Why was he writing to Commissioner of Police about the death of George Duncan? Did he have information about Duncan's death? If so that information most probably came from the good samaritan who took Roger James to the hospital. Does anyone have any information about this document?Capture.PNG

What I would really like to know is has there been any updated follow up of the information that Trevor wrote in his diaries?

Trevor was a close relative of mine. He was a great school teacher, an incredible artist and a brilliant photographer. He kept diaries his whole life, and wrote descriptively, passionately, and was brutally honest about everyone he knew.

Throughout this whole thread, which I have followed religiously from the start, I've stayed in the shadows. I've come across several
names of people I remember growing up. I have photos also. But respect for MY family has kept me quiet.

Trevor lived in a city in a time where homosexuality, bisexuality, transvestites and anyone else who wasn't 'straight' was judged. Not only that, he grew up in a small country town. There is still 'straight' people I know in the country who escape to the city every now and then to let their hair down so to speak, don their party frock and only answer to their alter ego stage name for the night!
I know for a fact, that Trevor's information would have been true. According to this receipt, a LOT of information was provided to police. Yet only a few pages out of 1 journal have been publicly shown.

Has anyone got any information about a guy by the name of Michael Andrew Gibbons? Gibbons was the guy who gave police information (1983) that Richard Kelvin had been picked up in a car (1963 EJ Holden) by Doug & Mark. Police eventually tracked him down and he was charged with providing false information. At the time Gibbons was 23, brown shoulder length hair, chubby build and employed as a car detailer.
Sadly, this man committed suicide.
The Doug and Mark people were connected with a North Tce nightclub.

Thanks for the update Squawk. Do you know if there was any connection between Gibbons and Von Einem? Or if Gibbons spent any time in WA?

Convicted pedophile Ric Marshall once bragged

Of course to most of us who were kids in the 70s, he wasn't a convicted pedophile. He was the host of Channel 7's children's show 'Young 7' (along with others like Pam Tamblyn, Francie Chamings, Steve Curtis & Suzanne Fox? - might not have got that last name right) that featured cartoons and kids series along with competitions.

My main memory of him was watching the day-time show (I think it ran for an hour or two in the mornings at one time as well as an hour or two in the afternoon) and he had come back from an American holiday and mentioned he had seen the screen-star Yvonne de Carlo in a stage show and Francie said 'from the Munsters?'. He said 'Yes, but she was a fat old lady who came waddling onto the stage'.

Unsure why that is my main memory of him lol - but I guess I was watching the Munsters on TV for the first time around then.

My other memory of him is that he often used to play 'The Dame' characters in Christmas holiday pantomimes back then.

Most of us know what the name of 'the businessman' is and most of us know it's under suppression. On that basis, continuing to post it on this thread is in defiance and not a mistake. Thanks.
Why is his name still surpessed? Seems pointless it's already posted all over the web.

Because the suppression order hasn't been lifted. Keep in mind also that suppression orders long predate the web, so this certainly isn't the first time a situation like this has occurred in the last couple decades. It doesn't mean however that BigFooty wouldn't be liable for it being published on here.
