Also knowing that she and Mr B were trained/training to be nurses makes you wonder whether they saw it as an easy job as they clearly wouldn't have been seeking the job out of an abundance of empathy for helping people.
Do you happen to have the information stating that Mr B was trained/training to be a nurse? Very few know who Mr B is. And he’s always been in the hospitality industry. I’ve noticed that a lot of people confuse him for LT

Apologies, my intention was to reply to the comment you had replied to. I must have replied to yours by mistake

I should point out, your comment that he did not attend Pultney Grammar is correct, however the mixed information may stem from that his younger brother is/was a teacher at this school
He doesn't have a younger brother. I think you are referring to one of his older brothers.

He has one older brother (DVE) one older sister (CVE) and then his significantly younger brother (LVE). LVE has 3 children, one boy and 2 girls.
During Von Einem’s arrest he was interrogated about his whereabouts at the time of Kelvin’s body being discarded, and he told police that his nephew (LVE’s son) had been the one driving his mother nearby the airstrip. Not him. This nephew (RVE) would have barely been a toddler at this time, but it was never looked in to further

didn't Young Blood state that BVE had gone to a train museum with his nephew earlier that day? Would be a weird thing growing up and thinking that your uncle followed up your lovely day out with something like that.

I haven’t personally read the book. But that’s quite interesting. That book was written by one of the officers on the case, wasn’t it? So it seems he’s told two different stories involving his very young nephew (that directly contradict each other) and police never bothered to follow up..

"I was wearing my old brown cardigan because at the Railway Museum I was climbing all over engines and carriages. [nephew] and I went back to my place and [nephew] left.
"I then decided to go to O’Connell Street, North Adelaide to buy some fish and chips or a hamburger. I realise there are fish and chip shops closer to my home, but I fairly often used to go to O’Connell Street to get takeaway food."

O'Brien, Bob. Young Blood: The Story of the Family Murders . HarperCollins. Kindle Edition.

It gets a lot weirder if the kid's barely a toddler (he just left?), then straight into predation of older kids.

Brian Martin - the DPP - had five fish and chip shop owners from between BVE's home and North Adelaide give evidence that they were open, so bare minimum competence would have had police talking to operators of cafes on O'Connell Street.

The family birth notices indicate 'LVE' is much older than BVE and that the nephew had been of driving age for some years.

is that the same nephew mentioned in Young Blood? It doesn't mention their age but I always imagined that the uncle/nephew train museum trip would have been younger than driving age.

Another year has passed. vE is still breathing in Pt Augusta. Mr R and Mr B are still out there having avoided justice for over 40 years. Dozens of others complicit in the abductions and slayings and many of whom are in the final years, still haven't found the honour, the guts or the ethics to come forward to give closure to so many families. Without doubt many of these could ask for and get immunity. Yet they still keep quiet existing in their grubby little worlds. Maybe this year one of them might get a soul and become a human again.

does the $1M reward for prosecution become available to the prosecuted's family if they dob them in?

Hi all! I decided to register on this forum after reading this particular thread. I moved to Adelaide approximately 1991. My father was an antique dealer and used to go to evening auctions in the city of Adelaide such as I believe Adelaide Auction and I believe the other was called Small and Whitfield. He became familiar with some of the regulars at these auctions after going to these over time. He told me that some people he used to speak to at the auctions one day pointed out a couple of guys that he had seen at evening auctions he had been attending quite a few times. He was warned to keep away from these people (something along the lines of being trouble and some other words I can’t quite remember but having to do with the subject being discussed here?). I can’t recall the exact words but something to that effect. I believe if I am not mistaken the two people may have been a gay couple even. And I do know that one of them was apparently this guy people on here are referring to as Mr. R. I do know the full name but won’t say it here in case that is not permitted. Just thought I would add this info as I keep thinking about it each time I have been reading this thread. If any info I have provided here is not allowed feel free to remove it or shoot me a message and I can edit it or remove it myself. It’s probably not helpful in anyway but it does perhaps validate some things people on here have been saying.

it's certainly interesting to know (and kind of reassuring) that even in their field they are regarded as dangerous and to be avoided. They are two soulless drifters in life.

Having read this thread and thinking back to my childhood/teen years or even early 20's... I also want to share an experience that I made when I was in my first or maybe second year of University. I am guessing the year would have been 1996 or 1997. I had arranged to watch a movie at the Greater Union cinema on Hindley Street with an old High School mate. I caught the train into the city to meet up with him in the city. We watched the film and afterwards we went our separate ways as my friend had driven into the city. I remember it was dark when we got out of the cinema. I walked down Hindley I believe towards Bank Street (for some reason I did not go the underpass way that evening to the station). I can't quite remember at what side street coming off Hindley Street it was, but when I got to an intersection with a street running off Hindley Street, a younger looking asian man came up to me and wanted to know directions to some place. I told him I had no idea where this place was and that I need to keep going, as I was in a rush. He insisted that I walk with him into the side street where his car was parked and he wanted to show me a street map and I told him again... I am sorry I am in a hurry and I can't. He kept insisting and said my car is right there pointing to it and I did follow him down the street a little. I believe the car was standing there with lights still on and the engine running possibly. He opened the car door kept it open and got a street directory out. Some of the memories in my head are vague, as it was so long ago. I told him again that I am sorry but I can't help him and I really need to start walking fast, as my train is coming soon. For some reason I had a weird feeling and did not want to go too close to the car with the door open and stood at a distance. I was always more on the cautious side as my parents had instilled this into me from a young age. He then changed the subject suddenly and said come with me in my car I want to take you to a place where I take photos of you and you can make money. I got extremely anxious and scared at that point and told him sorry I have to go now and started walking away fast towards the station and eventually started jogging and sprinting toward the Adelaide Train Station. Up to this day I still think about this event and what this person wanted and when I think about it now as an adult I am pretty certain he had bad intentions and that I had just avoided a very nefarious situation. Sure I am speculating but this situation felt weird then and feels even more weird to me today. Even back then being more gullible I had a very bad feeling. I never reported this incident and only told my parents and some people at university about it the next day. I have had a few weird incidents as a younger child and teen but this is one that just came back to me earlier after doing some reading about the Family Murders.

That sounds unpleasant but there is almost zero chance it had any relation to The Family considering his age profile and ethnicity. Plenty of other creeps in a city the size of Adelaide.

Yeh I didn't think it was related to it really (but was keeping an open mind that you never ever know what it was). It was just a weird and creepy situation that came back to me as I was reading through some of the weird stories on here. I have a few other weird ones as well. I do have a very strong feeling that this person was up to no good though. It certainly seems very off to me. When I think about it today... I should have reported it.
