Clearly nursed it the full way. Tyson had nothing by the end of round two. Even then couldnt generate anything. It was clearly staged as Paul just kept his distance and had no interest in landing a killer blow.

Tyson never through a punch, clearly staged so Tyson was not allowed to punch him.
What a farce.

I remember as kid watching Ali fight the Japanese world karate champion. The karate guy wasn't allowed to kick so he spent the whole fight on his butt shuffling around the ring and using his feet to keep Ali at a distance so he couldn't punch him.

Close to as big a joke as what this was.

No-one should be angry about what was a very obvious staged fight. I do wish though the sport didn't a better job getting people to watch more regularly rather than the big HW/exhibition fights like these. Already enough money in it so it's not going to change.

the problem with boxing is there has been way too many organisations / titles. MMA has UFC and its now the biggest combat organisation in the world.

Tyson still showed some good head movement for his age, but his legs are well and truly shot. he needs to get Revitive

He slipped a lot of punches, was actually really impressed with how hard he was to hit at times for someone so old - I thought he would be a sitting duck and just stand and throw punches. It was almost the exact opposite though as you say his legs weren’t exactly amazing.

Obviously there was a fair degree of carrying once Paul got to the point of knowing he was safe, I think it’s worth noting that Tyson has probably never shown, really, that he can handle adversity in the boxing ring: he was an amazing front runner but in all the fights where it was taken to him by an opponent he struggled to summon anything extra aside from maybe the Douglas fight prior to getting knocked out so I was actually surprised to see him make it to the end even with Paul not going in for an easy kill in the last 2-3 rounds.

I hope for his sake as the troubled individual that he has been that he at least takes something beyond money from it.

Had R1-2 Tyson, R3, 5-8 Paul, R4 draw.

Fight went as expected, if it goes past R2 then Logan was always gonna win. Tyson's technique and ring iq prevented him from getting knocked down. Paul's technique atrocious; hands at an MMA position, far too low for boxing. Landed plenty of punches, but a lot of them glanced off Tyson's gloves which took the power off.

Put him against peak Tyson and it'd be a snuff film.

Yeah I agree, what was everyone expecting?

I'm a believer of old man strength, I'm sure one good punch would seriously rattle JP, but there is no such thing as old man speed, old man agality, old man reflexes, old man stanima which is just as critical in boxing as a strength.

Agree with all of this in principle but as I said in my other post I was genuinely surprised by how quick Tyson’s head was. He got hit enough but he also still showed some really good reflexes at times. I know it’s not exactly Sugar Ray Robinson he was trying to evade but it still surprised me

Credit to the Paul family for one thing, they know how to market and promote, in particular on social media. Boxing is just full of old school promoters who just don't utilise the social media market. Dana White has and it's a big reason why UFC has become more popular than Boxing.

He has the health of a 65yo.

You know that Paul Gallen and Barry Hall fought 4 rounds at 2 minutes each, one of them having literally only retired that season, and Gallen, though he was fit enough to become a passable punching bag eventually, got his ears boxed off and they were both relatively spent at the end of it.

Tyson just fought a current professional boxer. He’s 58. And he fought 8 two minute rounds.

So yeah, not quite sure that’s entirely accurate. He’s done things to his body that wouldn’t have helped it a lot in terms of his addictions, but he’s also spent a large percentage of his life as one of the world’s premier athletes and would be in better nick than most people his age despite what it’s done to some of his functionality.
