No idea tbh

The shine has well and truly worn off UFC for me lately.

There's no genuine stars outside AP (Jones never fights but that will be huge even against Stipe). The events just intertwine every week with no noticeable difference between them. Granted, last week I'd have got up to watch but was crook as a dog

The UFC greed and desire to have no more Conor headaches has killed off having any real mega events. By design, they're all interchangeable, but if they're all interchangeable with one another, why should I care about each event?

It's still ok entertainment given it's on every Sunday. If bored, you know it's there a bit like BBL all summer but I'm really struggling to GAF about it the last 6-12 months.

It wasn't all that long ago you had Jones, GSP, Anderson, Conor/Aldo (when Aldo was dominant), Cain/Brock, Rousey. They had rivalries that felt massive Jones/Rashad/DC, GSP/Hughes, Anderson/Chael, Rousey/Misha. What is there now?

Am I wrong here, do people feel completely different and get super excited for it all still?

I've followed this things since pre TUF, maybe I've just outgrown it and it isn't made for me anymore, which is fine.

And, so irrelevant to your post sorry lol, just random Friday thoughts at work
Nah ive definitely fallen off of late.

Probably a touch harsh given Topuira seems like a stud and AP is a proper freak but even the decline of guys like Izzy and Colby have meant its blandish.

I think the rivalries have died for sure. I know a lot of people hate the bullshit outside the cage but you're full of shit if you don't get hyped when there's genuine hatred. Colby vs Usman/Masvidal the last genuine rivalry and that was just cause of Colby.

Then it's like DDP Adesanya but they kinda didn't go hard on each other.

That little period where the lightweights all fought each other ( Gaethje, Poirier, Islam, Chandler and Charles was awesome just for the fights)

Too many events for sure and to many wrestle heavy champs. Then guys like Leon, Pantoja, Volk, Hill etc who were champs but really didn't bring anything to the entertainment side.

Topuria is a breath of fresh air

For me as someone who doesn't give a shit about anything outside of the fights in the cage its the same ol UFC to me. Some shit fights, some good fights and some great fights.

If he does that Pereira surely has a lifetime deal with the UFC. Has anyone saved the company more than him outside of Griffen and Bonner
would be 4 title fights in 8 months

5 in 13 months

Absolute ****ing beast

But I guess at 37, starting MMA late in age and being a star it is a good business decision to cash in while he can

The 'hatred' is all the UFC can promote. I maintain they're very shitty promoters (other than their 3 letters which they are great at) and almost always have been

"THESE 2 REALLY DONT LIKE EACH OTHER" has been done to death

Rivalries need competitive aspects as well which is why I never cared for Cov/Mas - the result was obvious

Rumour is Oliviera is out of the Chandler fight

Potentially Poirier stepping in

Hmm... not sure how I feel about that. Dustin vs Chandler 2 is a great fight, but with Dustin talking about one more fight before retirement, I would like to see him have a full camp. If he's taking this on super short notice and isn't fully prepared, it could end things on a sour note for him.

Dustin's plan is to have his last fight in Louisiana. The thing is, an event there might not happen until summer in the USA (8-ish months). So his preference is to get a fight in before that so as to not be out of the game for so long.
He's still ranked 4th, and although very unlikely, the fairytale for me would be to see him get one last crack at the belt. Either that, or Nate in Louisiana for his last dance.

Either way looks like the rumours may not be true

Was fueled by Poirier a bit though so maybe he is angling for a fight with Chandler anyway

Some random journo reported it, it got some traction and then Poirier tweeted the eyes or something. Don't think there was ever much in it

And in the Apex so the atmosphere should be right up there.
Also, the following weeks PPV, look at the first two fights of the PPV 🙄
I dont mind 2 shit fights to start a main card, I just watch the last 3

It's when there's a shit fight, then a good one, then wmma co main I struggle to tune in! Even a bad main event is fine, just switch off early.

That said, those 2 fights are laughable for a PPV card

Neil Magny main event 😂.

Cant go out this arvo babe, it's that HUGE Neil Magny fight I've been waiting for
A lamb to the slaughter here as well. Prates looking to launch off this after 10 straight, and I think Magny is probably beyond even gatekeeper status now.

Great to see Reinier de Ridder finally in the UFC, albeit 5 or so years too late.

Fair enough. I'd have put Weidman v Anders on there, and I'd open the ppv with Miller vs Jackson or Tybura vs Diniz.
