Bryce Mitchells podcast went about as well as one would expect.

Dana’s comments this morning were pretty great
Jesus lol. I'm all about free speech and letting these guys say whatever so I guess I gotta let that slide too but **** me hope he gets his head caved in Josh Emmett style again

Dana absolutely ****ing annihilated him at the power slap presser today.

Dana almost famously won’t fire these guys but he didn’t mince words about him

Honestly it's how it should be though. I hate people losing their jobs over things they say. I think he's a ****wit and I'm glad Dana called him that. Rather than expecting everyone in the world to be role models let them say stupid shit and then tell the world how ****ing dumb they are.

I think there’s a bit of a balance. I suspect the whole contractor status of these guys helps Dana’s position. I’m positive Bryce won’t get another contract if he’s not absolutely crushing it in cage. I do think this outcome makes Bryce look even worse than if he just got fired.

Yeah I had to look up his comments after I heard Danas press conference

Kind of knew what he would have said, especially when Dana went to lengths to bring it up before a question about it was even asked

Agree

Free speech is allowing people to say what they like even when it is totally ****ing stupid

Free to say what you like, not free of the consequences of what you say.
Depends what the consequences are I guess

Let's not praise Dana for doing the bare minimum. I doubt he even would have done that if Ari Emanuel didn't own Endeavour.

I'm not a free speech for all guy, but personally have no problem with Mitchell not facing any repercussions. The dude's a professional fighter who chases chickens for cardio, who cares what he says?

Free to say what you like, not free of the consequences of what you say.
I don't really wanna get into a huge back and forth on this cause it does get boring for everyone lol but if it's free speech with consequences it's not really free speech then is it. Just because you don't get killed for it if you lose your job its really not free then

He didn’t lose his job, he got body slammed by his boss.

If you sign a contract with clauses about disrepute and behaviour then pop off about Hitler being a good dude I have no sympathy for you if you get fired.

You can say whatever you like but you don’t get to do it without repurcussions, “free speech” doesn’t mean you get a ****ing amnesty on every bad idea you get.

If it has consequences, by definition it's not free speech.

So dana making a fool of him is not a consequence?
Not really no? Very different to straight out punishing him or firing him.

Dana in the strongest possible way said he disagrees. Maybe it's literally a consequence by the definition of the word but you know that's not what we were talking about mate.

I actually don’t know that’s not what we were talking about. Frankly I’d have had no issue with him getting fired OR Dana making a fool of him on a global scale but both are absolutely consequences of what he said.

If he had Jon Jones on the show and dropped the N word and Jon beat the piss out of him is that not consequence? If he wandered down the street and called a large group of homosexuals the f word and got sued for hate speech is that not a consequence? Neither would have been him getting fired.

Free speech does not mean free of consequence, free speech means you can say whatever you like without being censored before you do it. It doesn’t and shouldn’t protect you from repurcussions of what you say.

I also think that if you sign a contract (ala most pro athletes) that has morality or disrepute clauses, then pop off and get fired, that’s on you and has nothing to do with protecting your free speech. You were still allowed to say it.

I suspect we’ll agree to disagree there.

Mate. You've really taken this so far away from where we started.

Given you’re the one saying this was a great response from Dana whilst also saying there should be no consequences for people talking shit (whilst also acknowledging this was a consequence) I’d say you pushed us onto this path but sure thing.

Me an stinger were talking about from a legal or job loss sense. Didn't say anyone couldn't have an opinion on what he said either. It's not a consequence in the context we started at

Actually I noted free speech doesn’t mean free of consequence so it was my point you two (mainly you) seem to wanna agree with but also disagree with. Also stringer very obviously agrees with me, his quote is literally “depends on the consequences I guess” that’s what the quote means.

At no point have I said he should lose his job, at no point has anyone said that’s the only possible consequence for freedom of speech.

Again, you don’t want to see people lose their jobs over saying stupid shit, that’s fine, I don’t agree with you in specific circumstances but that’s totally subjective (in this instance I think the response from the ufc was the best course of action) but you very obviously do believe in consequences for people’s speech, which is the whole basis for the quote “free to say what you like, not free of the consequences of what you say.”

Frankly it would be insane if you didn’t.

Your honestly having an argument that doesn't exist. I'm gonna move on.
Literally said what I said an now you're inventing scenarios to try an argue about.

Hahahaha ****ing hell, you quote me, argue with me (when you’re actually agreeing) then bottle it when I point that out. It’d be funny if it wasn’t so ridiculous.

Nah mate you're just determined to have a big old thing about nothing. I've told you what I think. Glad he won't lose his job. End of. If you wanna keep trying to add little sub points for **** knows what purpose continue it with someone else.

saying something offensive and getting belted for it is totally different for being prosecuted for hate speach (which in itself it against free speech)

If you are free to say anything but not free of consequences of your words then it's not really free speech. By that definition every place on Earth has free speech
