Been thinking about this for awhile probably since I saw the Blood and Thunder - Sounds of Albert doco, but Australian rock and pop of the 1960's, 1970's and 1980's was disproportionately influenced by people born in Glasgow near Glasgow or other parts of Scotland. Watching the Easybeats miniseries just reminded me along with the death of George and Malcolm Young. They laid the trail for many musos of the last 25-30 years or so to follow as kids born in Oz took their place at the top of the charts.
George Young
Malcolm Young
Angus Young
John Paul Young
Jimmy Barnes
John Swann
Colin Hay - born and grew up in Kilwinning about 30kms south of Glasgow
Eric Bogle
Ronald Belford "Bon" Scott
Its not so much that the numbers where huge but the depth of influence of the Scottish-Aussie rockers across all aspects, song writing, record production, front men, solo artists and band members. I'm sure I've left out a few. The song writers in particular have left songs that have had a last impression for a couple generations, maybe longer.
