For the last ONE HUNDRED AND SIXTY SIX (166) weeks I have retained a rather similar schedule when it comes to the Sweet F.A.
Early in the week I will likely collate up the statistics of the round just gone. Complain to the match thread author for the next round that it is far too early for the match thread. Sit in the corner crying because I have to put up with a whole team of opposition peanuts. Check the team sheets and sim the games (not anymore, though, woohoo!) are usually stuffed in there towards the back end of the week. Probably send the current Administrator a message about how I think they have made a stuff-up. It is all a pretty stock-standard affair.
By now, I know you are wondering - how is this the great tragedy of the league and what on earth does an old washed up, retired, inactive, and former Geelong Wolves Captain in the title of this very thread have anything, whatsoever, to do with this?
Well, boy, do I have the story for you.
I forgot to mention that on any given day I am prone to open up the leagues database of numbers and letters; just to have a geez and see if there is anything somewhat interesting that I can pull out of it to post here on the Sweet F.A board. Sometimes I find something I feel is interesting, and other times I just have to click the little X button because I have come up with nothing, but without fail, every time I open up the database I get extremely pissed off at one thing.
I feel upset, feel the tears starting to come. I feel like I have just been kicked in the guts. I feel like the league has been robbed of something special. Woah, I sure do feel a lot. None of it good. After this long, I am absolutely fed up with it and I demand some answers.

End Season 31, Round 01

Also, while we are here, congratulations to the captain of the Roys FFC, TedDougChris on his 100th game which he should have completed by the time this is actually posted.
EVERY DAMN WEEK I open up the numbers and staring me in the face is dumbass Willo_ and his dumb 99 games played. For 1,667 days. He would fit right in at the Mount Buller Dummies. Never has anything annoyed me more than this campaigner. He played his last game in a loss for the Gold City Royals against the Baghdad Bombers in a Semi-Final back in Season 24. I know it does not piss just only myself off - well not really, but I just assume I am sane and other sane people would be mad too.
I bet he knows just how annoying it is too. I bet he does it just for a laugh. Do you think it is funny, Willo_? It is not. Do you think you are some kind of comedian? You are funny, but for the purpose of this, you are NOT. He sucks. He really does. He will suck until he ticks over 100 games and that is that. You suck, Willo_. If you had of stayed at the Gold City Royals you would have another 103 + Season 31 games under your belt and people would likely be saying 'wow, this Willo_ fella is pretty good, maybe we should talk about giving him some awards?'. Probably 6 Sweet F.A Players Association - beez Trophies too. Good work, champ!
Sure, other people have been stranded on a number of games, but in my view, Willo_ is right up there as one of the posters who we have lost that had all the potential in the world. Wosh only just recently escaped getting abused in a media piece after sitting on 149 games for too long.
Here is what his good former associate The Filth Wizard had to say about Willo_:
"Willo_ is a total enigma in the Sweet FA. He was everywhere - EKA Medalist, podcaster, immortalised in GIF form on one of Quivorir's attempts to captain a team. Original/early days BC. Then like that, gone. One of the nicest guys you'd ever see in this place (or in real life) and just a wonderful poster. I tried desperately to get him to play his 100th game with the revamped Hawks but we just missed out. I hope to see him back one day." - The Filth Wizard
Oh, would you look at that, he left The Filth Wizard of all people hanging too. Does this guy have any limits, whatsoever?
SO, where does this leave us? I was always taught that if you have a problem that you should seek a solution and if it is with a person, you should use a little thing called 'communication'. Alright, fine. Last week I thought best to go and contact this horrendous, evil player. So that is just what I did. If you know anything about Willo_, you would know that he is not a participant in the league anymore and is not all that active on BigFooty, so I thought the challenge of getting a hold of him would be harder than having Tarkyn_24 reply to your private messages about a thread about himself. That was not the case, which may be the only decent thing Willo_ has done in the last 8 seasons.
WILLO_ was kind (HUGE SURPRISE after the description we have so far, right?) enough to speak to me about not only this atrocity, but to go over his career in the Sweet F.A.
Just before we kick this next chapter off, I thought that perhaps Willo_ may have retired come the end of Season 24 out of solidarity that his favourite Administrator, Hate, chose the door.
I was pretty upset when he said:
"You were admin?" - Willo_
You know what? Screw you, Willo_. No more media pieces about you.
WHERE IT ALL STARTED
Season 19 had just seen the Geelong Gumbies renamed to the Westeros Direwolves, under the captaincy of A Bit High, until they would realise what a mistake that name was and went with the Geelong Wolves. Delisting 6 players, the Wolves would recruit 5 players to the club: Cooksen, yyou, manboob, TN25, and the one which turned out to be the gem for them, Willo_. He made his debut in Season 19, Round 01 against the Sin City Swamprats. He was all go both on and off-field. Picking up 24 disposals and 86 DreamTeam Points, Willo_ was pivotal in the clubs first win under their new name.
We love a good chat about the now regular BigFooty Sweet F.A Tour and other forms of advertising, but as you can see below, it is prone to discover some decent players:
"Ummm I think it was literally just someone had posted a thread on the Cats board advertising the place, I was in a pretty cushy job at the time and had time to get fully invested and scour all the places in BF so thought I would have a go," is what Willo_ had to say about how he discovered the Sweet F.A.
In his first season, Willo_ displayed signs that quiet frankly would suggest that he could very well go on to be in the leagues Hall of Fame one day.
Season 19 saw Willo_ become the 11th winner of one of the leagues most sought after accolades for newcomers, the EKA Medal. He would finish ahead of Millky95. The votes for that count remain unknown, but if we go off of what Willo_ had to say on what the EKA Medal win means to him and his thoughts on his competition (namely Millky95) ...
"Meaning wise, it was nice at the time... Arrogantly I was pretty confident that i was the best rookie that season haha, since then it's even better because Millky genuinely dirtied up about not winning it
Despite me being comfortably better..
And winning it comfortably..

... you would probably say he won in a landslide, which may very well have been the case.
The standing Administrator at the time, okeydoke7 described Willo_ as follows when awarding him the EKA Medal:
"Willo_ blitzed the competition and has been awarded the EKA Medal for S19. Willo_ has been an outstanding contributor for the Wolves this season. From the second he entered the competition, he ensured he would be noticed. He posts absolute quality. You can't skip over his posts. Willo_ is unafraid and will happily engage in banter with any member of this competition.
A regular poster, Willo_'s success is about far more than posting levels. It is a victory for quality contributions. They do get noticed and they do make this league a better place. Here is hoping that Willo_ can avoid the EKA curse and go on to become a sensational poster for seasons to come." - okeydoke7
Safe to say the curse got him eventually...
MOVING ON
After 29 games for the Geelong Wolves, the talk of the town decided to take his efforts to the old mans home, which was rather odd considering he was still rather new around these parts.
Willo_ goes into great detail about how his move to the Roys FFC came about and what he got out of it:
"Ummm I think fitzroybowiedog was pretty keen to get me from my very first season, and they were a team i had enjoyed the banter with, I knew Reardo from a previous internet life, I loved Mooch and just enjoyed there vibe, early in my 2nd Wolves season I think they were just getting far too spammy, there was no focus on quality only quantity... there was a game from memory against the Swamprats that literally drained my will to post and to live... so i lost interest, I thought the change of scenery would freshen me up and I think it did.. I absolutely loved my time at the Roys, not sure we ever won (as was standard for me) but it was constantly fun, and they were the team every other team loved playing against so it was just great. Got to know people like Loonerty and just couldn't speak higher of my time there" - Willo_
I had a few takeaways after reading his response to my question. What other internet life were he and Reardo involved in? Imagine the now Gumbies FFC being too spammy. Oh, and the best part is where he confirms that indeed the Sin City Swamprats were the absolute worst between Season 19 - 22. That was almost out of my memory, jerk. At least now we have some confirmation that Ant Bear, Kennedy Parker, Millky95, and spookism played a part in the exit of Willo_. Have any of those players ever done anything even remotely as good for the league as Willo_ has? Hard to say, really. He too could have just been referring to his own club, but it is more amusing to lay into spook.
By the way, Willo_, your record at the Roys FFC is 16W-19L. His time at the Roys FFC was fantastic, picking up 18 of his 25 career Mobbenfuhrer Medal votes there.
UNCOVERING QUIVORIR
I was tempted to be super petty and avoid this, because Quivorir declined without saying a word to give comment to my article, but I will write about it anyways, because we are all professional Qooty players and writers around these parts.
After a lovely stint for the Roys FFC, Willo_ turned his attention back to the Wolves where he would return as co-captain, alongside Quivorir, to see if he could help bolster the side that was struggling to get players on board. It is common place in the Sweet F.A to pay out captains, but perhaps none have become more of a meme than our very own Quivorir for his time spent as Captain. After feeling content with leaving the Roys, who were progressing nicely, Willo_ felt he had the green light for a return to where it all started.
I asked Willo_ for some words on how he came to return to the club and if it were really true that Quivorir was a horrible captain:
"Nah not at all, Quiv was fine, he was literally pushing sh*t up hill the whole time, it became a meme to sh*t on him but he is a genuinely good egg and took it all in his stride. I can't even remember how i became captain, i think it was a bit of ego and role playing and talking myself up so I was handballed the job which i was probably hopeless at.. I was in the Boys Club by that stage and knew Quiv was having a hard time recruiting and I just offered to come back and try help.. in a couple of seasons the Roys had turned around so had a core of good posters so I felt my absence wouldn't hurt and i could try help my original club" - Willo_
Since the end of Season 21, the now Gumbies FFC have had 10 captains, and in my view, only one stands above them all, Willo_. I do not really know what he did as captain, but I am trying to butter him up as much as possible so he returns. The club has been a rabble for so long and the list is dauntingly long it is hard to remember who they have had in charge, but Willo_ is without a doubt the shinning light of the last 10 seasons. Barrybran is getting there, but there is still some daylight between them.
Although the Gumbies FFC have improved steadily under the reign of its current captain, Willo_ was not too pleased about the club and how it faired during his time there:
"On the field I am pretty certain we were no good, I was a beacon of mediocrity in terms of helping any side I was on actually win any games. When I first started we had a pretty good fun core I felt, were pretty active but it was just enjoyable and not spammy.. It went well, then went to sh*t and then probably stayed sh*t for the remainder of my time in the league which included when i went back there with Quiv" - Willo_
April, 2017 saw Willo_ publicly appeal for applications for the next captain of the club. Noobz0r was given the job, because why? Well, you know...
"No idea, i think he was just really keen for the job and seemed to think that he had what it took.. he had all these grand plans and I was happy to just flip the job over and run away" - Willo_
THE LAST STAND
After his second stint, lasting just the one season, at the Wolves came to an end in Season 23, Willo_ would make a move to his, at present, final club, the Gold City Royals. I thought it would be interesting to ask him why he decided on the Gold City Royals, but the answer was just about as interesting as the club itself:
"To be honest I forgot that I even played for the Royals, probably went cos I love Blacky" - Willo_
Just as he started, he went out with a bang with 26 disposals and 104 DreamTeam points. And that was it. On 99 Games, Willo_ was no more, and ever since I have been immensely pissed off as a result.
On why he left the league, if sitting on 99 games was intentional, his favourite moments in the leauge, and if a return is on the cards here is what he had to say:
"life just got in the way, i would love to come up with something witty and clever but there is no real interesting story... I have kids and a busy job and also I don't have the time nor patience to shift through the spam or sh*t fights... this also includes dealing with most of the window lickers on the Cats board as well FWIW"
"lol no it is just one of those things, but I love the fact I finished on 99, and that it annoys some people"
"Ohh the Boys Club stuff in it's peak was pretty fantastic, not just the threads but the actual Facebook group chat and the way we would manipulate threads and things was gold. If you weren't involved you probably hated it but oh well.
Fave posters.. Blacky, miggs and Quivorir are up there, you could argue that they are my main chat faves.

Of nine threads Willo_ posted on the Sweet F.A board, most were quality and none more so than his very humours The Tockle thread which he always found a way to creatively display his likes and dislikes of the league. Willo_ is right on the top shelf as far as posters come. Match threads were always enjoyable, he was not afraid to get into discussions, and was never short of making the entire league laugh as a collective. It is these qualities that the league has missed out on greatly and is worse off as a result.
The great tragedy.
As much as it pains me that Willo_ is no longer an active part of the Sweet F.A, I just want to take a moment to tell Willo_, once again, what an absolute campaigner of the highest order he is, but wish him the best of luck with his life and offer a thank you for participating in my horrible media piece about him.
