This is a hard one because the Camrys are a bunch of faceless men.

What is a Max McIlhenny? I'll pick him for the alliteration

Don't be silly.

Soligo is not eligible.

Three goals and about 60 touches in two games this year...

Okay can someone post the criteria then please.

I thought the general rule of thumb was 'a plodder/journey-man who is unheralded but steps up to have a big game against us'. Just because Soligo has started the year well in the first two games, I didn't think that would mean he's ineligible now.

Last year Soligo kicked a total of 6 goals for the season, and against us last year he had 23 touches, 4 clangers, and zero goals.

He averaged about 22 touches a game last year and played thru the midfield for the first time with some success as well. This season he has built on it.

There are players who are Kerridge noms for a few years and then hit their straps and become unavailable, one of the tricks to it is picking these guys just before they hit the sort of form Soligo and Ben Keays (another regular who has kicked five goals this year and is averaging 20 touches a game, so should be ineligible) are hitting right now.

It's Nate's call tho. If he says its okay then go for it. I will. (But it still shouldn't happen.)

Even Neal-Bullen, who will probably be eligible is averaging nearly twenty touches and has kicked three goals.

Adelaide are playing really good high scoring footy and all their forwards are playing well so far. There's probably only about three players who are genuinely eligible in their side based on the form they have so far this season.

Post the eligibility, because a search of this thread for 'rules' or 'eligibility' comes up with a bunch of different/conflicting definitions.

Such as this;

Everyone’s eligible except for 1st round draft picks and All-Australians.

There's also first gamers (apparently) and it seems, some who haven't played many games who aren't eligible, but the basic rule of thumb is that others can be picked so long as they are a spud type of player, not an "out and out utter raving super-star". Basically your duds and lesser lights.

Of course, don't take my word for it as I haven't a clue about footy in general - I just make up stuff as I go along.

Thank you (genuinely) for taking this on in my absence.

I agree Soligo is nowhere near eligible, Alex Near-Bulleen (tm TAO) is coming good and I'll allow him ONLY because they have SFA when it comes to crap or average.

In most teams, they'd both be ineligible.

Its a pretty informal competition and I think most of us would prefer if it stays that way. It makes for fun banter, enjoyable arguments and outrageous calls from Nate (if appropriate at the time.) The eligibility is really down to what Nate7 says.

These are kerridge's original stats:

You can see that in his second season (or his first proper season after one game the year before,) he had a blinder against us and backed it up the following year while struggling against other sides, mostly (he had a pretty good game a few weeks before he played us the first time as well.) There's also Ryan Nyhius who kicked four in his first game - against us of course and never kicked another goal before being delisted a few years late. (He might have kicked one or two later on but don't let the facts spoil a good story hey.)

So if you can nail a first gamer like that then its okay, provided they aren't a first round draft pick. First rounders have to be shit for years before they become eligible I think.

Nate said this in that post Samsquatch linked:

I'll also seek the help of posters in determining spud eligibility and I'll listen to any reasonable argument for why a player should or should not be included..

So keep that in mind and remember having fun is more important than the rules in the Kerridge.

I'd also like to reiterate what I have said before and I know another North Melbourne bigfooty poster has said in the more recent years that this is one of two threads on the entire North Melbourne board where everyone is welcome regardless of like or dislike and there is no political persuasion included - it's all for fun.

I will add to this.
Neale-Bullen is eligible not because he's a spud or dud footballer, but due to the fact that even on his best days is a B+ type player.

He is a candidate this week as since 2019 he has only ever kicked 3 goals in a game once and that was against us.
Call it the North outlier clause where average plays above themselves.

Excluding about 6 Bulldog players, there might not be a spud player in the comp that looks forward to playing us more than Lachie Sholl.

He won't be anywhere near his opponent as he racks up 30 & kicks 3 Rausage Sholls.

Why on Earth did we not pick him under the Uncle-Nephew rule... Or give his dad more of a go?

I've still got no idea what Sholl looks like. Like I said earlier - Adelaide might as well be a bunch of faceless men.

Like turning on Ricky Ponting cricket back in the day and having M. Grayden and J. Langworth opening the batting.

Mark Keane for me this week please. The AFL stats tell me this year he averages 0 tackles and 1.5 spoils over the 1st two rounds. He was either chased out of town by old Uncle Roy Keane who no doubt deemed him useless as he's yet to even lay a tackle, or, he's not related to Keano and is trying to sound tough by using his mother's maiden name.

Strange team on paper the Camry Crows. Few recycled players, lots of mid round draftees and a few traded in guns.

Anyway, after such stirring analysis I have settled on Mark Keane to be swung forward late in the game to kick the winner and then promptly skull a pint of Guinness in honor of St Pats Day.

So keep that in mind and remember having fun is more important than the rules in the Kerridge.
I won the Kerridge a couple of years back - and have the t-shirt to prove it - by choosing players mostly on the basis of making the best possible pun from their name.
