Are other people still planning on building and keeping Shackleton's Lifeboat?

This is the first time I've had one of these seriously limited GWPs that I've bought at launch time, so I've never had this situation where the value of a lego piece had become so stupidly inflated before it even got to my house.

Is opening it and building it kind of dumb? I mean, I bought it to open, I want to open it... but it's already selling with prices between $120-140, and it's only going to go up.

I decided to sell the lightsaber if I can, but only because when it arrived it look so much smaller and crapper than I was hoping.

But otherwise I’m always in the buy to build category and it goes with the main purchase for yours.

I build everything I buy, unless I end up gifting it. A lot of the more limited GWPs will fetch up to $100, but I have no interest in Lego as an investment.

If you want to keep it, is it $100 worth of joy for you? In my case that's an unequivocal yes, but if you're wavering then go ahead and sell it, and that's made your Endurance $100 cheaper. Winning :).

I won’t be building it.

Open it, build it, resell it for half its value when you get bored of it.

As CP alluded to, it's the price of joy that you should look at. There are buyers of opened and used sets out there on Facebook Marketplace, Gumtree etc. As a comparison, I just sold the Retro Record Player for $70 and I probably got about 20 offers after listing it less than two days ago. I could deal with opening, assembling and displaying it, then selling for $30 a couple years later and pricing my enjoyment at $40.

I don't think I'd do that - I think that, once it's built, it's part of the collection. Especially in the case of Shackleton's Lifeboat as an accompaniment to Endurance.

It wouldn't be worth 30 bucks to not have it as part of the collection at that point.

I'm leaning towards keeping it. And maybe starting to build one of them tomorrow. I did a stupid amount of work for a stupid amount of pay over the last few days, and I made my nut for December already even if I don't feel like taking any more work. I've also had the cleaner in yesterday, and my place has never looked cleaner and more inviting to sit on the floor and build some lego.

On holidays and home alone (lol) during the day Wed-Fri this week while the wife is at work and the kids are at school/daycare, so smashing through the Batcave so I can concentrate on doing a bag each evening once the kids are in bed for the Home Alone house advent calendar style. I just love the little touch of dividing a Christmas set up into 24 bags.

I need to do three bags a day for the next three days to get the Batcave finished while I have zero responsibilities 😊 School holidays from next week.

I have a limited time Target voucher that I need to use by tomorrow. I'm struggling to find a home for it.

Has anyone built anything off this list that you recommend? It has to be 70 bucks or more. And the smaller the better, every Lego purchase these days also has to be made with consideration of where tf it's going to go.

The only one I've built on that list is the Astronaut. It's very clever how they've done it and it's interesting to put together but it's quite niche. At $44 though it's half price and a good deal.

Any reason why you can't consider other Target sets? They seem to still have their 20% off sale going. For $76 you can have the Earth and Moon which is an interesting set but again a bit niche, the Technic Kawasaki, Harry Potter Mandrake or the Star Wars Tantive IV. For $71 there's the Technic Koenigsegg, various Botanicals (all good), Senna, or for $68 there's the 3-in-1 T Rex.

Sorry, I linked the wrong page - I can choose from all their lego, but I couldn't find anything that I really wanted to build. (Already have the Senna.)
