This one was really fun to build and looks great displayed. It's got lots of fun bits tucked away eg. the evil Queen lives in the poisoned apple with her mini apple. I can take photos if people want to see it...

I am contemplating doing that with the 350 deep ones.
It's not an impulse, it's a considered decision to buy a coveted set at a discount you're happy with. Win win
.
Also I think that one will be hard to find once retired.

I don't think my problem is getting high and looking at lego.
I think the problem is getting high, looking at sets that are retiring, checking their availability, then deciding that I have to buy it while I still can.
The realisation struck me when I found that Target has Bowser for under $260... but it's still a year+ away from retirement, so I din't need to get it. (Nekmenit it's a Batcave Shadowbox situation where it disappears without notice.)
In other news, the just-retired NASA Space Shuttle Discovery turned up in the mail today... Barely remember even ordering it, but I'm glad I did, it looks sick. Inhaling confidence in the form of MedCan vapour...

They're still showing the Mars Rover 2 weeks after they cancelled my order for it. I got them through the chat this week, and as far they could see they weren't aware of any stock, and advised against trying to re-order it.

Halfway there, starting to get heavy and not sure how well it will remain on the stand. Challenging build so far, feels like a few pieces would come off easily when trying to push others on. Some things could probably sit better for a UCS set, but so far it’s not bad. Probably worth more around the 250 or so.

It does look like a really engaging build. Have taken the plunge and ordered for the Christmas family build.
Slightly off-topic, does anyone else have the City Advent this year? To me this really does illustrate Lego's cost cutting. Last year's was 254 pieces, this year's 192. Yesterday's bag was a single piece (small bunny). Interested to hear from others who have Lego Advents this year.
I read a few Lego.com reviews about the set after the mini chat on Saturday..... many people having that problem where things pop off when you're trying to continue the build (watch out when you're building the X Of the X-Wing). It's turned me off from buying it myself - I'd still get it if someone would build it 100% successfully for me. I know I'd crack it part way through
