Thanks for the heads up about the Amazon sale - I picked up the last cargo train, which never turned up at the discounters, and I haven't seen before at Amazon. Had a gift card and with a discount that was an attractive buy.
Now I really do need to lock up the CC ...
Yep. Amazon not being particularly honest with their discount % (RRP was $300) but it's a reasonable deal and I haven't seen it anywhere else cheaper. Was it this one you picked up?
I very nearly bought it, I think it would be super easy to MOC into one of Melbourne's new HCMT trains, it's so close in looks already.
The lighthouse is a bit niche, but well put together and the lighting function works very well. Probably over priced for what it was, but they did develop the custom Fresnel Lens for it.I started looking for my next big set with that Amazon sale, which is how I ended up with the typewriter in the absence of anything that really, really grabbed me. Had there been a ship or a castle that appealed to me, I've no doubt I would've just bitten the bullet and found space later. But it was a good sale, and I was getting twitchy about my pile!
If they'd had the motorised lighthouse, that's the one I would've loooved to buy. I'm no longer in a rush to buy the Red Bull technic, cos it'll be months before I want to build it. I'll get it eventually, the F1 technic's display as well as anything in the Lego world, but I wish I'd held off on building Ferrari a few more months after the Mercedes. (Especially when we saw it get as cheap as a $269 starting price at Kmart!)
Too expensive - agree. I’ll always regret not adding that one to my collection. I also wish I had started collecting all the modular building sets. Tudor corner looks great. Bommer sometimes has to go without. Plus I have a real space issue so have gone a bit conservative with set acquisition. Which is so boring I know. The car sets take up a bit of room so may need to start hanging vertically on the walls. Need to figure that one out.The lighthouse is a bit niche, but well put together and the lighting function works very well. It came from the day when Ideas sets where truly to recognise the "idea" - that is, something Lego would never otherwise produce themselves.
I "collect" the modulars, but only if I like them, if that makes sense. I don't get every one, and don't have any of the "collectible" ones. To be honest though those early sets aren't a patch on the recent ones.Too expensive - agree. I’ll always regret not adding that one to my collection. Yeah I have those ikea cube shelves and got some sets in there and titanic on top.I "collect" the modulars, but only if I like them, if that makes sense. I don't get every one, and don't have any of the "collectible" ones. To be honest though those early sets aren't a patch on the recent ones.
Tudor Corner is definitely recommended if you like the aesthetic. It goes very well with the others I have, but it wouldn't, for example, really sit with the diner or jazz club.
Have seen videos of the larger supercars hanging vertically. Can be effective if you don't mind them dominating a room.
If you're not in a hurry for Tudor Corner it should hit the majors eventually and be available on sale in due course. But yeah, don't miss it.Yeah I have those ikea cube shelves and got some sets in there and titanic on top.
Not all the cars have been built but some will have to hang on the wall.
Good to know re the modular sets. Tudor corner is on my list. If it’s the only one I get.
Thanks CP.
A teaser has leaked suggesting that the mighty Pokemon franchise is arriving to Lego in 2026. Zelda and Mario are great and all but they are dwarfed by the Pokemon juggernaut when it comes to printing money for Nintendo.
Gotta build 'em all - there are now about 1000 of them. Oh god my poor poor wallet.
