I never got the lifeboat with my Endurance, I got the record player and something I can't rememberI built this little guy tonight. Quite comfortably the easiest build of my adult lego renaissance over the last 2-3 years, I got it done in about an hour, sitting in my armchair building out of a box under a lamp light (which is about as slow/difficult as building gets!)
Is it worth the stupid amounts that people are paying on the secondary market? Absolutely not. And it would've been a shame if the lifeboat had've been unavailable and a dummy spit prevented me getting Endurance. Cos Endurance is perhaps my favourite build ever. This? It's just a little boat.
But there's something about the Shackleton minifig man, it's almost goosebump-inducing when you get it built and get him set on the lifeboat next to Endurance.

Thomas the Tank Engine?
The giant robot from this episode of Super Wings?
The Lifeboat was a GWP specific to Endurance in its first week of release. I think it lasted a few hours here.I never got the lifeboat with my Endurance, I got the record player and something I can't remember

Nope, have never done this, and don't think I ever would. It is readily available on platforms like amazon and the Chinese online markets, but I don't think I've seen it in physical stores. There are reviews on Youtube of some of the more prominent brands, and it seems they are getting closer in quality.Has anyone bought any bootlego? Any Australian stores selling it?
Example that caught my eye

The bricks themselves are no longer copyright, so not all "fake lego" is bootleg, or illegal. Some companies produce their own designs or buy designs from AFOLs, but many do just take straight copies of models Lego produces. The Chinese government finally took "action" against some of these when Lego agreed to establish a manufacturing facility in China (which is where sets sold in Australia are now sourced from).
Yeah I think you'd be ok with Mega Blocks, but I don't have any personal experience. Lego has just acquired the Pokemon licence and will start producing sets next year.Yeah I haven't. but certainly curious.
Some of these Mega (Mattel) sets look alright

Hmmmm, that's poor. I think there are better quality knockoffs around, but I'd rather save up for the real thing.A friend got a Chinese made Titanic and said the bricks are 2/3 the size of Lego ones and was unimpressed. I bit my tongue.

Yes, there's a lot of ongoing discussion in the Lego world of the copying from Kiddicraft's patent. I guess it was felt the Lego ones were different enough.
The holiday train was the other GWP at the time I think.
Shackleton lasted about 6 or 7 hours here from memory, which was much longer than it lasted in most other parts of the world.
