Media The Mediocre Career of ShaunDuggan #SH400NDUGGAN

Hello everyone,

It is very rare these days for me to descend from my ivory tower to join the peons but this is an important moment in league history, so I shall take a break from the busy life of indulging in Burberry scarves, fine dining, and misappropriating the league budget to celebrate the long and rather unspectacular career of one ShaunDuggan.

In the spirit of Heritage Round, the Sin City Swamprat leadership group has decided to embrace the traditional identity of dole-bludgers and for split second it looked like Batman's 400th game was about to go totally uncelebrated.

Fortunately for Shaun, he is lucky enough to have played more games with me than any other player.

So today, before the opening bounce of game 400, I will be re-telling Duggan's story. From his achievements, his inactivity and irrelevance, and his associations with some of the worst people to have ever graced the league. Although this is nowhere near as spectacular of spookism's story (SEE MORE), it is the kind of story that I believe most people will not buy the book of, but may watch a 5-minute plot summary on youtube.

Season 11-12: Geelong Gumbies
ShaunDuggan's career started in Season 11 when he debuted for the Geelong Gumbies (now Gumbies FFC). He played 30 games across two seasons. Nothing of note occurred during this time. Midway through Season 12, he would be traded out of the Gumbies and join a long list of players to leave the Gumbies and thrive elsewhere.

List of players who started at the Gumbies and became incredibly successful Qooty Stars elsewhere:

I believe during this time he posted a media thread titled 'The BettsMagic Story' which is a scene that details pregnancy and childbirth. Honestly, content that you would expect to find in the Spookism Catalogue.

Season 12-16: West Coast Wonders and Premierships
ShaunDuggan joined the Wonders just in time for their golden era. The following season ShaunDuggan would make the All-SFA team in Season 13 and play a pivot role in lifting the Wonders to the Season 13 premiership over the East Side Hawks (RIP).

Two seasons later, ShaunDuggan would captain the Wonders to the Season 15 premiership, notching up another All-SFA selection and leading from the front with 26 disposals, 7 marks and a goal in a tense grand final against the Furies where the Wonders prevailed by 6 points.

In the latter part of his time at the Wonders, it appeared as though the pace of the game was beginning to move beyond Shaun which prompted him to introspectively consider retirement.

The answer is clearly YES! But in spite of that Duggan would continue his career and proceed in a downward trajectory...

Season 17-23: Inactivity and The Jet

In opposition to his best judgement, ShaunDuggan decided to join up with the struggling Alberton Swamprats at the time. Associating himself with universally reviled persona The Jet / Jobe3Votes to land himself in Alberton in Season 17.

Pictured: ShaunDuggan arriving in Alberton in his private jet.

For a variety of reasons, Duggan would live to regret his association with The Jet. The Jet has long been permanently banned from the site for serious reasons we will not be elaborating. All the more awkward that Duggan actually appeared on Podcast Episode with The Jet which he will be relieved that the episode is no longer available.

The package deal of Duggan and The Jet to the Swamprats would be a total disaster with Duggan losing passion and bailing midway through the season leaving the Rats stuck with the worst poster in history of the league to date.

Duggan officially retired in January of 2014 which would have been around S17 and 3 months later in a total pantskyle move he puts himself on the open market for Season 18.

He will end up at the Wonders for the following season, but return to the rebranded Sin City Swamprats in Season 19 contributing very little.

Duggan would post intermittently from Season 20 with a new Batman persona while the Swamprats were on a hotstreak, returning to the side, starting on the bench and replacing Kennedy Parker to kick the sealer against the Baghdad Bandits in Round 4. It would become a minor meme within Swamprat world that whenever ShaunDuggan posts in a match thread the Rats would win. Later on, this theory would be proven totally false.

Another highlight was when ShaunDuggan MONSTERED Headless in the dying seconds of the S22 Round 13 clash with the Mount Buller Demons resulting in Headless being too traumatised to start a Qooty game on the field.

4 : 24.28 {FB} - ShaunDuggan monsters Headless.
4 : 24.34 {FF} - Gray Day sizes the options in front of him.
4 : 24.41 {FF} - Gray Day has a shot at goal.
4 : 24.47 {FF} - Didn't look good off the boot - a minor score.
Sin City Swamprats : 10.8.68
Mount Buller Demons : 10.7.67
4 : 24.57 {FB} - Headless wants to get on with proceedings.

Match Over!

Duggan would make minimal posting contributions until Season 24.

Season 24-26: Return to Activity, Joining and Escaping a Cult

Following a mass exodus of the Swamprats leadership group post-S23. ShaunDuggan would pledge to return to activity in Season 24. And he did! Raising his posting average from 1.3 ppw to a whopping 50.4 ppw. The Swamprats also happened to struggle on-field in this season as they collected a second wooden spoon. The season was also very tragic with Swamprat rookie Drazah passing away mid-season.

It is during this season, the Duggan would find himself embroiled in a cult of sorts - with a certain rookie of Season 24 (I will not name who because they have been perma-banned now and convincingly the worst thing to happen to the SFA since Jobe3Votes) sending PMs to certain members of the Swamprats among others, of various sob stories and mistreatment from the Wonders.

Being initially sympathetic, Duggan would aggressively take on the Wonders on behalf of this unnamed rookie which would later be revealed to be a very unwise decision as it would only entangle him further into a web of creepy, weird private message behaviour.

The next season, Duggan played a pivotal role in the ruck as the Swamprats recovered from a 1-7 start to make the grand final in an ultimately losing effort against the Roys FFC in S25. At the end of the season, ShaunDuggan took off his batman mask and revealed his new Seth Rollins persona as he decided to return to the Wonders to renew his enthusiasm.

With his new persona, he decided to reunite with the West Coast Wonders and take on more responsibility, at one point taking on the mantle of co-captain after Dingster was traded in from the Swamprats midway through the season. In this same season, Duggs began questioning the cult of a certain rookie that he formerly belonged to. This culminated in a match thread exchange where he pointed out that the rookie was in fact not the best rookie because they did not win the EKA. The response was a barrage of nasty PM abuse that would kill Duggan's interets in the league for years.

Season 27-32: The Gold City Royals and Drought-Breaking Premiership

After The Filth Wizard's takeover of the Gold City Royals, ShaunDuggan joined as a part of nWo version 5. This meant he finally reunited with long-time Swamprat teammates Noobz0r and myself, then subsequently spookism.

The Royals would typically struggle for a number of seasons, not winning any finals or missing all together. Duggan would make underwhelming posting contributions during S27-S29. Until Season 30, where the perfect storm of icons of seasons past rediscovering enthusiasm and the Royals inexplicable having a dominant on-field season led to Duggan being a part of the ultimate line-up, playing on the Half Forward Flank. Fittingly, Duggan would win the premiership against his old side the Swamprats in the Season 30 grand final by 33 points in what was my 'retirement' match.

During the season at one point Duggan found himself in the middle of a crossroad moment in the Royals' season as The Filth Wizard foolishly tried to break up the famed #stackedsix by putting Duggan in there but fortunately common sense prevailed and Duggan was selected on the Half Forward Flank.

The Notorious Season 30 Gold City Royals Premiership Line-Up
Post-match Duggs would admit that he was mostly carried during the season by his awesome teammates, and while his activity waned he still enjoyed the season.

Subsequently, his S31 and S32 contributions would continue in the trajectory of fading into obscurity.

Season 33-Present: Return To The Swamprats

Towards the end of Season 32, I approached ShaunDuggan about returning to the Swamprats as I prepared to come out of my two season retirement. With the promise that Duggs can play in the follower line and contend for the Mobbs Medal.

He did return, play in the follower line, but totally spudded it up and we got the spoon, and had to tolerate okeydoke7 making 100s of posts about himself all season. However, it was still good enough of a season to be a joint winner of the Season 33 Toots Hibbert Medal for the best and fairest!

So there you go, ShaunDuggan's 400 game Qooty career to date. It was nowhere near as interesting to write about as Spookism's tragicomedy of a career but nonetheless, congratulations on a huge milestone and becoming part of the furniture of the SFA!

Never realized I had a Wikipedia page, thanks for copy and pasting.

Thread title should also read 'The Roast of ShaunDuggan', as essentially, that's what this whole week has been.

I was ready to hurl the toys out of the cot, but I'll keep them in here for now, as you have gone to a bit of effort here clod, it is appreciated. The big assist has to go to Clarkie, because without him bringing it to everyones attention, you'd be reading the world's greatest melt thread right now. Even had it all typed out with shoops and gifs.

Perhaps it's time to consider a name change to "Papa Duggs" to command a little more respect around here. Although that could come with unwanted attention from the authorities....

Please post this. I'll even do up a nice snazzy header for you.

I already offered my congrats to ShaunDuggan for his 400th, so I'd like to just point out that Kennedy Parker has to be about the worst gossip tease on BF. Dangling all that raw meat in front of my sophomoric maw, only to yank it back with a variety of "we shall no longer discuss the shunned."

Trust me, the raw meat is not worth taking.

The word dangling is also an odd choice of words given the campaigner bucket cult leaders barrage of PMs I received.
