How dare I allow this post to slip to page four, after BigFooty has done so little for me over the years...

Anyway, just plugging our season-in-review ebook for Brsbane. J. R. R. Tolkien described it as a "rollicking good time, complete with frontal nudity", which kind tells me he didn't read it.

Anyway, all articles written by me (HB), including members-only content, for the low, low price of one hundred and six dollars, and sixty cents... minus the hundred bucks, sadly. $6.60 - not the worst read in the world if you're a Lions supporter. Maybe avoid it if you're a fan of another team.

West Coast Eagles Season Preview

Melbourne Season preview

Crows season preview now up. If you missed it on FB, it's because those dicks keep deleting it because I said something "offensive", apparently.

I didn't.

Western Bulldogs season preview up

Also, the Brisbane Lions are up too. As an aside, had a complaint about this one, as it contains swear words as part of a movie quote, because, well, sometimes movies have swearing in them. Rolls eyes

GWS preview now up. Comparatively, it's a smaller market, so if you are a Giants supporter, any shares would be greatly appreciated. Cheers.

The Mongrel Punt, some of your articles have found their way into my google notifications and are always a good read. Keep up the great work!!

Thanks for that, love the article. I do hope we at least get a solid rotation from Bailey as a contested type because i think we need it.

The section on the ruck is definitely something I agree with, though I think there might be differing levels of value in a ruck to a team depending on midfield experience. Is there a level where the mids can't yet shark taps and structure up and just need the big boy to give it to them, and if so when does the turnover of the Geelong midfield hit a point where that's needed?

I think it's more a systemic thing - Chris Scott has setup his centre bounce and stoppage structures to prevent clean takeaways, and that is more a positional and execution factor than it is a talent one. You can put three Tom Atkins' in at a centre bounce - not the highest level of skills in terms of players - and he will be able to bottle things up and cause dirty clearances.

Of course, having the big bodies really helps, but with a good transition of responsibility, a strong young bloke like Bruhn can take that on, and whilst you have Atkins/Guthrie/Stewart in there supporting, others can be brought along. It's actually a very innovative and system. I like seeing coaches buck trends, and that's what Scott has done with this strategy. :)
