How funny was the story in todays paper about the zoo in China who sold lots of tickets to people to see their new exhibit, a Lion! They used a Tibetan Mastiff (a dog) and the rort only came undone when one of the kids wanted to hear it roar.. The 'Lion Handler' tried to make it roar and the 'Lion' said "WOOF WOOF".. LOL bloody Chinese people are funny farkers..

You think that's something. I was once given a student job in a zoo after the Gorilla died and they needed to pretend to have a gorilla and it was cheaper to pay a pretender than the upkeep of real gorilla. Just while they waited on a new grant for a new gorilla they told me.

I had to swagger around in the gorrila suit and beat my chest... on day 3 though I slipped and fell in the lions cage. I was terrified and yelled out "help, help let me out" and than the lion said " Shut up or we'll both get the sack"

How my mum could be so inconsiderate to come out of her mum's vagina on this day 59 years ago is beyond me. Making me miss Gary's return is highly rude.

I also have another engagement to attend, however i will be shutting myself off from the online world and watching the game 3 hours delayed live

That sounds like something out of the Mighty Boosh.

I have been helping host a short film festival for the last year and a bit now (I am sure a few of you have been spammed by event invites on fb in the past actually)

Anyways since I am so sick and tired of everyone else in the crew wanting to do no other work but present (And leave me to to tech support, work on door, find films, and only occasionally present (Which was what I was hired for actually)), I have decided to quit!!!

(Major reason for only quitting now is they wouldn't let me have the night off to go and fence in a qualification tournament because they need people to run tech)

That's the worst, because you're giving up your spare time to do something you love, but it takes away from your enjoyment because you don't get to do the things that made you give up your time in the first place. I am thinking about doing the same thing with a toastmasters club I'm part of, which lost a few long time members so I ended up having to shoulder much of the load. I decided to stay on because I had time and I enjoyed the company of the people there, but I fully understand your situation, you have to do what's right for you sometimes.

Bonz do you like hosting/presenting or more the technology side? Maybe doing your own stuff for a while might do the trick, it's easy to become jaded after a while when you're doing most of the work...

Toastmasters club???

I do technical work 8:30-6pm 5 days a week, I was hired to do presenting work and I am not going to lie I prefer doing presenting work as its something different, hell even being on the door would be a refreshing change.

Issue is the owner of the festival a few months ago received some negative feedback about his presenting... and a request from the owners of the bar that we host the festival at that I do all the presenting for the event... since then he has shunted me to the tech room not even allowing me to present the films that I have brought in that my friends made (and on the one occasion I did present a film he stole the mic (which the audience got annoyed about funnily enough))

The fact that I can't even take one night off now for a really important nights fencing is the last nail in the coffin.

Toastmasters club???

Public speaking... Something I wanted to improve on... Except I do so much of the behind the scenes work I haven't been able to speak! Unfortunately it attracts the older crowd, prefer a younger club as the meetings are more fun

But the film festival sounds way cooler!!

That actually sounds like something I need would enjoy. (With younger crowd)

Part of the reason I wanted to do more presenting was to work on my public speaking.

Yeah I did it at uni, we had a lot of fun back then. It depends on the people, and the quality of feedback you get... the meetings can be quite regimented though, I've always wanted to do theatresports or something to get better at improv, but for now podcasts will have to do ;)

just sore throats and fever and such
im going to get tested for Glandular fever on thursday

Hope it all goes well and everything is ok, take care!

Fever doesn't sound good. My traditional illness starts off with sore throat and as that is disappearing runny nose and popping ears develops. That disappears within a day or two and am left with an annoying cough for the next week or two. Always diagnosed as upper respiratory tract infection and inner ear infection. Get well soon Soph. Fingers are crossed for you that it's not Glandular.
