Ugledar has been one of the most hotly contested cities of the whole war - the Ukranians have mounted a spectacular defence against repeated Russian attacks.

Its where the Russians really have had the horror days of losing three figure troops numbers of many many vehicles in an hour or so that the propaganda pretends happen all the time.

Now the Russians haver cut the last supply route it is all over - this will be a real blow to already faltering Ukranian morale, so much blood spilled to defend this place.

Over a year ago I made a bet with a Hawks nuffie about who would win a final first; North or Hawks.

Terms were loser cops a two week suspension.

I lost.

Fair enough - good on you for honouring the bet.

Did you just get a mod to suspend you or something?

American football is a militarised sport. Even more so than rugby. If you've never heard of him google Pat Tillman.

Very very familiar with Tillman and what happened to him aka murdered.

US society and culture is so militarised, its insane

I ain't ****ing with the NFL or Jay-Z
Propaganda for the military complex
The same gun that shot Lil Terry
Out west the same gun that shot some Samir in the West Bank
We all think the Super Bowl's the best thing
Go, Rihanna, go
Watch the fighter jet fly high
War machine gets glamorized
We play the game to pass the time

Super weird that dude got lionized in death.

a) he was never a conservative type
b) he died in friendly fire
c) he was never a 'star' player - he was the equivalent of someone like Tyler Sellers going off to join the army after getting de-listed.

Yeah, but he was easily made so, that pic of him in his beret thing, all square jawed etc.

b) he died in friendly fire

Or not so friendly fire from his own side.

It was huge news at the time though, totally sold as NFL guy joins army.

God, what a crazy time that was post 9/11
