Ronnie isn't the only one to say this, and I find the exceptionalising (is that a word) by many Jewish people that "only the Jews are expected ..." infuriating.

Ulster has a literal public holiday where the Orangemen parade around gloating about their mass slaughter of Catholics - it is a violent and dangerous day and Catholics tend to flee to the safety of the Republic for the 12th and its eve.

January 26 in Australia is nothing more than a grotesque celebration of the invasion and genocide of indigenous Australia.

The insistence that what happened to Israel on October 7 is something all humanity must recognise as a crime beyond all others is pretty off.

These right wing Yanks are soooooooo close to nailing it, but because they've decided climate change is fake and "capitalism" good, they have to invent Hurricane Machines instead.

Hurricane machines are real dude.

They use sound waves!!!!

This storm in Florida looks BAD too, could be the October Surprise.

It has the potential to really damage Harris and energise Trump's vote imo

I agree, but in reverse.

I think these storms are going to be devastating for the Republican base - the same base who thinks the Federal government is bad, and who have enthusiastically supported Florida Governor DeSantis who is about to understand just how important having an effective and established relationship with the Federal government actually is when it comes to disaster response and recovery.

Meanwhile, insurance companies are literally pulling out of Florida entirely because climate change is exacerbating these storms on an annual basis to the point that it's no longer economically viable to provide natural disaster coverage in Florida. So what do Florida politicians like DeSantis, Rubio, and Gaetz do? Call climate change a hoax, vote against any and all attempts at mitigation and preparation, and screech about "socialism!" and "states rights!"

I feel terrible for the Florida citizens who are about to be left high and dry by their state government and hamstrung by their shitty leadership. And I think these storms are going to bite the Republicans on the ass.

All this is the correct and sensible analysis a smart and rational person would do.

But sensible, rational analysis is in short supply in the US (and wider West right now).

My fear is we're about to witness a catastrophic mass casualty event live streamed into US voters heads.

Where Trump's brutally simplistic, unfair and downright dishonest messaging will fall on fertile ears.

"See! It's a mess under Biden and Harris, they can't protect you, look at Florida, all that money went to illegals not Americans, it's chaos, it's a disaster, they want to start more wars, the world is laughing us".

The really shitty part is that DeSantis and GOP in general have gutted govt so much that the response will be slow and unwieldy.

But they won't get blamed for it, Harris and Biden will.

Let's hope the storm isn't as bad as it looks but jeez signs not good.

We will have mass casualty climate events here very soon, and as COVID taught us, governments that take it seriously and try and do what is required will be slaughtered in the media and by their opposition.

We have compulsory voting which forces parties to the centre, the US doesn't

I really hope I'm wrong.

Florida sent resources to NC and Tenn. after Helene hit last week. De Santis will benefit from that, especially if he runs in four years time.

Partly because the Tenn. National Guard (motto: There when you need us) has 700 guardsmen on the way to Kuwait. Its a small percentage of the total force but still ... wtf are the National Guard doing in Kuwait during a disaster at home? That makes the feds look bad. They're taking state resources for their international war bullshit.

Some of those rumours are ****en wild, especially the idea of weaponising "Old man yells at cloud". That's kind of brilliant.

But the reality is FEMA isn't even coping with the damage Helene caused (which is understandable) and isn't that effective to begin with so odds are it will fail to deliver in Florida and the Biden government will wear the blame. So those rumours will stay around and the real causes of both these disasters and the problems with the responses will never be acknowledged or addressed by either side.

I'm page skimming waiting for one and or any of Parker, Daniel or LDU to sign, apologies of this is old news to you blokes ...

Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico has said that Ukraine will not join NATO as long as he remains in power.

While Ukraine has been seeking NATO membership for several months, and many countries support this bid, Slovakia has firmly voiced its opposition.

"As long as I am head of the Slovak government, I will direct the MPs that are under my control as chairman of the [ruling Smer] party never to agree to Ukraine's joining NATO," the leader said on the program O päť minút dvanásť.

This statement stands in stark contrast to the remarks made by NATO’s new Secretary General, Mark Rutte, who said last week that Ukraine is "closer than ever" to joining the alliance.

For a country to join NATO, all member states must unanimously approve its membership, as per the rules of the organization, which was founded in 1949. Other nations close to Russia may also use their veto to block Ukraine’s accession.

NATO has welcomed two new members this year: Sweden in March and Finland the following month.

As someone who loves watching the American news l am amazed at how Trump has got all those republicans believing in him. Lie after lie after lie and yet they still love him. While the race is close for the presidency l still believe Harris will win, Trump will say that the votes were rigged again and Republicans will riot again maybe not in Washington but in all states.

l hope this time they bring in the National Guard also the Republican party have only themselves to blame because they should have elected Nikki Haley to run and they would have won by a mile...

im not sure the catholics are fleeing anywhere, they are ready to go if they want to bring it.

But it is a good night to shut the shop and stay in doors. The streets get lively.

I agree about australia day. When i hear the complaints from indig Australians, i always think of marching season in belfast. It is too devisive an anniversary to ever bring a country together.

Dumb by the reporter, you don't waste an opportunity like that by losing your shit and acting unprofessionally.

That specific reporter is a deceitful snake, also by the way.
He doesn't actually give a **** about Gaza/Lebanon... he's just using that as a backdoor to push his overt Pro-Trump/Pro-Putin agenda and try and wedge the Biden administration on Ukraine.

A quick perusal of his Twitter timeline will tell you all you need to know.

Yeah, his bio on The Grayzone is pretty telling too.

Liam Cosgrove is a Washington DC correspondent for The Grayzone. His writing has appeared in publications including ZeroHedge, the Brownstone Institute and The Federalist.

Imagine putting ZeroHedge as somewhere you worked lol.

He's just as bad as the hacks who regurgitate Israeli talking points in these press conferences - taking up time others who have real questions could have used.

Yeh he won't be invited back.

But considering how everyone else has tip toed around the question for 12 months, he may need to be the journo that break ranks so that the rest grow a pair and start holding these campaigners to account.

I actually cannot believe the destruction that Israel has caused. Sometimes you have to stop and pinch yourself and the damage that has been done.
