I had a mate who lived in Sweden. He texted me to advise that he'd been diagnosed with MND (ALS) and that that it was having a debilitating impact on his life. We exchanged a few messages, pictures of kids, pets and so on as it had already been a few years since we'd seen each other. Almost exactly one year after telling me he'd been diagnosed, his wife sent a text to advise that he'd passed away. It can be fast in some people. Neale Daniher being named 2025 Australian of the Year is probably a few years overdue in being honoured for his work.

I hope you don't mind me coming on in here. My friend's husband was diagnosed with MND 14 years ago. He died 2 years ago. For 10 years out of 12, he could only move his eyes. It's a terrible disease.neale deserved the award years ago. He was 62 when he died

My five year old nephew died of a form of MND ... nearly a decade ago now. He'd be about 13 now.

Its a shit thing.

He was a good kid tho, got as much as he could out of his life. A great example for the rest of us actually.
