Clear illustration of intent being more important than skill.
Tigers pressure rating was better than the Blues I would guess, which covered up the Tigers 82 turnovers to Blues 71.
Most of the stats in the Blues favour apart from 6 more tackles from Tigers.
Tigers had the higher kicking efficiency and better conversion inside 50, even though Blues won the inside 50 count by 25.

Their work to prevent easy scoring opportunities was impressive.

We just don’t do that. It’s why sides score so heavily in short periods.

Our will to defend is non existent and it’s combined with elite level pants shitting defenders.

Vlastuin gave a really good interview at the end of the game where he talked through some of the tactical changes they made to increase the pressure on the Blues and reduce their easy transition game.

They cracked in. They played smart. They made the other side shit themselves with their intensity.

They earned that win through intelligence, speed and determination. There'll be plenty of other teams who can't keep up with that pressure, if they bring it every week. We could learn a lot from that.

It’s something that the opposition can’t control.

Called it in the “when will Richmond win their first game” thread and now have the most obscene leg of my 9 way multi locked down with Richmond helping me out. Pray for me.

Winner and margin Sat night please.
We will do them. We’re done messing around - it’s the other 6 legs im worried about.

It was impressive defensively, but more potent sides will convert the opportunities the Blues had inside 50.
We'll see if the Tigers can sustain that pressure and keep teams under 80 points every week to have a chance to win.

It's a marathon, not a sprint. Full credit to the Tigers but this game is more about the Blues choking imo.
Also a demonstration of how valuable a group of senior players can be when they're prepared to do the heavy lifting.

Hasn't been our strong suit. Hopefully we see some improvement on that front with Parker, Daniel and the return of Logue.

So the lessons seem to be… next time we do a massive rebuild, let’s keep 7 or 8 senior blokes who can actually play well, and let’s use the years where we’re blooding kids to play defensively sound, high pressure footy.
And not do the thing where we have 4 coaches in as many years.
