I think the “north inflicted their own demise” narrative will be pumped out ad nauseam by the media later in the year……this will, of course, be coming from top bras, dressed up as opinion from others.
And it's a shit argument. Every club created its own demise, whether it was Carlton cheating, Dees dumping their experience, GC's shoddy recruiting and trades.

Fully agree GR, but that won’t be mentioned in arguments……the narrative will be 3 coaches in 3 years, sacked senior core, not winning, where has Roos gone, poor selections, poor trades or poor returns for quality players….ie
“BBB is a premiership full forward, you don’t trade those away for nothing, blah blah”
“Tarrant is an AA squad KPD, they let him walk…..”
“Look at Mitchell at Hawthorn, or McRae at Pies, new coaches and there is a discernible way they play blah blah…..”

It will be infuriating watching and reading.

Houston thanks
Interesting.
Wind back 6 months and back to back prelims and hes loving life in Adelaide. Leader of the club. Well loved. Signs his best contract of his career so far.

Fast forward 6 months and Ports sitting 0-5 with Wines injured, Dixon injured, Boak 33 - is staying in Adelaide now really that great?
100% gettable and we should be in his ear. Come home Dan.

Melbourne boy from the Eastern suburbs. I suggested we have a crack at him years ago before he became established. I know his dad would love him to return and if we could do so it would also help get his dad back here from NZ where he lives currently.

Would cost too much nowadays though unfortunately.
His mates would too Toes’
Definitely a watch this space now

Exactly. Unless teams suffer a freak accident or rare illness run through their squad every single team creates it's own demise relatively speaking. It's a bit rich for teams to complain about us cutting our list too hard - that's exactly what the system is designed to encourage. I don't like it personally, I don't like the current list sizes and I don't like the reliance on developing 18 year olds in the AFL - but that is exactly the system that has been put in place.

The Petrenko goal in 2013 was brought up a few pages back. Just went and rewatched. The bloke who got it over the back?

Sam Kerridge.

We have possession with 40 seconds left.

And kick long to a contest.

The more things change the more they stay the same….

Better than kicking it into the middle of the ground to a 50-50 before Tippingwuti kicks the sealer.

I will never forgive Atley for that play. Just a brain dead pathetic decision and now his lasting memory as a North Melbourne footballer is one of irrelevancy. Good riddance

Nah cmon… he’d be an awesome coach…
He just shows them plays from his career and says, “see that, do the complete opposite”

After some recent internal discussions, it has been determined and agreed with Lachie that the best course of action is for him to spend some time away from the club while he addresses his personal issues
Determined and agreed? Tell us he's been stood down without telling us he's been stood down.

We will continue to support Lachie during his leave of absence, with his personal wellbeing the sole focus for everyone in the immediate term.
What about after the immediate term...

During this period of absence from the football program Lachie will not play at either AFL or VFL level
An incredibly redundant statement I would have thought.

Overall, a lot of reading between the lines to be done. Gee, if it's something as 'simple' as a health or family issue I'd be fuming if this was the statement they released.

In 2016 in the latter part of the season Ducky was interviewed and at one point he was asked about LTs suspension and he sounded very embarassed by the situation and said that no LT didn't deserve a suspension for that tackle. Maybe he just isn't a total shithead so he doesn't fit in the side....

Regardless of footy club it’s sad to see someone struggling, how bout we shelve the speculation

Yep, top bloke alright.

Narratives can be short-lived.

“They’ve won one game out of their last 27. We’re looking at one of the worst teams in the AFL era, really" - Kane Cornes, round 14, 2021

"Is North Melbourne the best wooden spooner this century?" - Jon Ralph, seven weeks later

That’s the problem with arseholes....the media is full of them.

Mitchell Lewis's hamstring is described as "the most unlucky injury this year".

He did it when showboating by kicking the winning goal into the second tier.

That's not unlucky, that's karma.
