What would we give for a Corey Enright right now. Absolute jet. One of those few players from another club that I loved watching.
You know what was best about him?

He did the basics of the game to an exceptionally high standard.

I thought there was a 6 month salary limit on how much clubs had to pay out to coaches?
This scenario sounds like they would be paying him out for all of his contract.

Anyone got a clue on this? And, yeah, great to hear that if they're 'in a pickle' we've played a role in it.

Not sure if I heard correctly but someone mentioned on the wireless that Simmo had them over a barrel because his current deal was signed just prior to when the new 6 month payout max arrangement came into effect.

Totally agree and as much as I loved Colby, in hindsight this is a tough read:

Totally agree and as much as I loved Colby, in hindsight this is a tough read:

It’s hard now to remember what a big deal it was for him to ask to be traded out, and then to choose us - players (especially club captains) just didn’t do that then. There was also much less emotional investment then in the draft and the value of draft picks. With no other mechanisms in play, once he chose a club, North had to pay in draft picks what he seemed worth (a lot). We had also just won a flag and were in the streak of prelims every year for six years. Even without hindsight I’m not sure what the club would have done differently in that situation, it was uncharted territory for the league - and the extent of the price didn’t really become apparent until Geelong finally rose eight years later - but really since then destination clubs haven’t overpaid to that extent until Kelly went to WCE, and he wasn’t half the player or leader Colby was.

I’m pretty sure I’ve read how important Colby was in holding the group together after the Carey thing, so overall he probably delivered value way beyond what he brought on the field.

Horrible to hear about Matty Rendell, especially at his age. He said some weird s**t sometimes on trade radio etc, but you could tell he was a legitimate footy fan who enjoyed the game and breaking down clubs lists.
RIP Matty

I'm sure the AFL will be thrilled with the optics of one of its greatest ever goalkickers and gernrally universally admired players being quoted as suggesting there are actions you can do on a football field for which you deserve to be assaulted

Um sorry…did l just hear the commentary team talk up and congratulate Geelong and Sydney as being the pioneers of Friday night footy 40 years ago….made me spit out my coffee. Not sure if lm right as l was on other side of room…but if so 🤬🤬
