The acurate one jokes on Geelong once again, having to rely on a rookie to win them a game.

A proper club doesn't rely on rookie depth to get them over the line.

As much as I hate Geelong after having worked for a Geelong based business. As much as I hate Geelong due the them being coached by the brother of the dill we had. As muchas I hate Geelong for the 94 pre lim.

I look fwd to the day we're as bumbling on and off field as them.

First round academy rule comes in a touch earlier and we use pick 11 on Butters instead of trading out,

We might be the only club that has gotten worse as a result of our nga academy

Only good player we’ve had is Thomas and that meant we brought in Polec for our first rounder

One thing to call out tho is out port traded our pick we gave them and found a way to move up to the butters pick with freo giving them pick 11

We don't trade out of 2019 and we take Serong or Flanders.

Butters was gone by our pick (it ended up being used by GWS on Hately). And yeah we could have got Thilthorpe if not for academy rules, but likely that Adelaide would have taken JUH.

Our rookies know their place. We have a proud tradition from McGennis to Warren to Edwards - you're there to make up the numbers. Don't get ahead of yourself, son.

Down at Geelong it's anarchy. Players are all topsy turvy and you get rookies trying to win games, late picks repeatedly getting in AA sides etc.

I'd be disgusted if we had that kind rudderless chaos at our club.

No you’re right - take out Thomas and Quaynor and our pick goes back to pick 12 (our 11 became 12 after GC compo for losing Lynch), which is where Butters was taken. So you’re absolutely right in that under the current academy rules we wouldn’t have had Thomas and may well have Butters!

I’m glad that we won’t be stuck in that rebuild phase if we were like a few years back geesh…and hopefully look fwd to that push for the pointy end around then…

Anyone shocked at the Devils name choice?

Apparently this was the other contender and only missed being chosen by "the narrowest margin" (whatever that means). The biggest concern was that most people would have likely mistaken it for Matthew Richardson and Walt Disney had issued copyright warnings that this directly infringed on Disneyland's intellectual property. While most lawyers we spoke with believe that the inclusion of the word "intellectual" would not stand up in any court, the feeling was that Matthew might get a big head if it was selected.
