Just flicked over to check the footy scores. Within 10 seconds the umpires have payed 50 to Sydney for a Richmond player ‘walking over the mark’. I rewound it twice and not only did the tigers player not go over the mark they were about 2 metres short of it . I honestly do not know how people can watch the game anymore . I grew up watching every game. I now literally watch north play and that is it

It’s another of those subjective rules that are a blight on the game. Sometimes it’s like you say, others they scream ‘go back two meters’, the player in the mark takes a half step back and they call play on.
