So where are we at when we look at opposition teams compared to ours over the last 5 seasons? Cattle or the Coach/es? I’m going with Cattle being out issue. If we can see improvement in teams like the Saints, compared to us then after 3 coaches you could have argued were the problem, we now have a fourth who by any estimate in the AFL universe wields an infinity stone (such is his power) I’m landing squarely on the Cattle. It may not be their fault per say but it’s where we’re at and the sooner the axe comes down the better 😐

First 10 minutes of his career. Turned over and won ball back.
That was the first one I thought of but he's done it a few times since. Don't watch Daicos closely enough but Sheezel has done it like ... well disposed of the ball, realised it won't work out and reacted before anyone else on one occasion.

If McCrae can win with a lower tier defender as his sole ruckman and guys like Trey Ruscoe and Nathan Krueger in key posts, I‘m going with coaching and fitness. Same with Lyon at the Saints. Their systems and approach have pretty ordinary players playing out of their skins and beating very decent opponents.

Precisely, not their fault but it’s the cattle. I think it’s too late to turn most of them around but anyone under 25 stands a good chance of reaching the required fitness levels under the Clarkson regime. Will be a big cull at the of this season offset with a big haul in the draft and rare periods.

Would love a few beau mcreery types.

Plays like a man possessed.

This is what competition for spots does
And you could have had him before either Charlie Lazzaro or Phoenix Spicer.

You can say all you like about fitness or coaches, but the first test of a football department is recruitment.

In his draft year, McCreery was playing to a high standard, with game impact among men in the SANFL firsts

Lazzaro hardly played in his draft year due to COVID (so arguably there was no empirical evidence on which to draft him, other than "he looked alright some time ago")

Spicer was playing SANFL reserves.

I know I'm not a professional scout, but really, I reckon a lay person could use some basic metrics (eg played against men, with impact) and do better than those selections

Lol

One of the great weekends of recent times is the trip to Hobart; last year and 2019. Fantastic joint and great people

Totally, In 2013 we flew into Launceston, went to Cradle Mountain. Drove down the guts to Hobart only to watch Sydney kick 11 goals in the 3rd quarter and Jude Bolton 4 as we got smashed. Was a great 4 days apart from the footy.

Has it been in here yet that that De Koning fella from carltank was out on the turps with his brother and an/some other cats players on the weekend?
So that's it confirmed. De Koning to Geelong to join his brother and McKay to Carlton. So long as nobody makes a mistake like the Adelaide newspaper, would that indicate that Miles Bergman is heading east?
