not against having macpherson to take lowsons spot on the VFL list but not on the AFL list. if we're adding him and the kid from st kilda that, helps replace watkins and lowson, albeit watkins is a huge loss so we need more then just the st kilda kid.

Our list is about to go into hyperdrive from a development perspective.

We have a glut of very highly talented young players getting a bit more physically developed year on year.

For the first time in a very long time it should be our AFL list carrying this side, not the other way around.

If the likes of Harvey, Bergman, Hardeman are playing down there this year, they should be tearing it apart.

Remembering we have also recruited 3 mature age players that will be going straight into the best 22 in Darling, Daniel and Parker.

That probably means the likes of Fisher, Stephens, Ford, Phillips are potentially starting in the VFL and they are far too good for that level.


We have the return of CCJ and Goater and then George mid year (hopefully). We will of course get injuries, but these are both players that have been excellent VFL players at various points.

Duursma will no doubt play a few games throughout the year.

Goad and Dawson will make massive leaps imo and Teakle and Pink are likely going to play a lot more VFL football this year than they did in the back half of the season.

+ the draftee's including another top pick.

The fact we are only going to take 3 players + River, should tell you the list is starting to get more fleshed out and settled.


Despite the losses of the VFL listed players, I think this side improves a lot organically next season..

Heard Geelong and Williamstown were chasing him hard too. Geelong so much so that they offered him a spot in the leadership group straight away.

Port will have a strong side next year.

Have heard we have spoken to ex Geelong listed player Mitch Hardie. Looking likely that he goes back over the SANFL though. If we were to land him he'd be an upgrade on Watkins.

Why on earth would these 3 want to stay on at a club that has no interest in them and risk getting dropped to play local footy. Excl Stephenson as he is FT local in 2025.

Now with Sellers gone to Red+Black D:ug Club I wonder if we are looking at a Non Drafted CHF/Full Forward from either VFL/SANFL/WAFL to replace him.
It’s a real shame about Sellers should never had debuted against Geelong at Geelong especially when the VFL side a bye the week before but his gone hopefully his replacement whoever that is will do ok at VFL level.

Matt Whitlock?
The reality is that as our side matures and the list gets better, there will be less opportunity for the VFL guys to get a chance in certain roles.
Whitlock, Maley, CCj, Goad all get a game as a tall in that fwd line vs a VFL player.

Whitlock will take time.
CCJ I have no faith in.
Maley has potential to be a star as long as he doesn’t get 2nd year blues.
Goad hopefully he starts making an impact in the VFL this year.
So another CHF/Full Forward would be handy.
