I'm actually not sure what is more pitiable about the situation, really. The incessant moaning about us having the temerity to want to play home games on our home ground, or the fact that these people actually seem to believe that some monumental injustice is really being perpetrated every time they have to play a H&A game on a ground that is not of their choosing.
Either way, the inevitable bleating is completely pathetic and entirely predictable.
Totally disagree. I am going this week, I would be pissed to be excluded.
FWIW, the issue was that due to construction, there were only IIRC a thousand or so Richmond membership seats.

The most reliable way to know how we're objectively ranked over the course of a season is surely still our ladder position and our percentage. Any other system gets really subjective. And the longer the season goes, the more 'accurate' the power ranking that is the actual AFL ladder becomes.

Blicavs in the back pocket kicks long to Dangerfield in the half back flank and is spoiled by Howe. Cameron being manned by Noble as they move to the contest but Cameron manned by Darcy Cameron as the spoil occurs. Even Hawkins had pushed to our defensive half bringing his opponent with him.
Holmes is being covered at the apex of the D50 arc by Ginnivan
Close is running through the inside of the corner of the centre square through space being zoned off by Nick Daicos
Maynard is manning Rohan half way between the centre circle and square on the skinny side. moving toward the edge of the square
Sidebottom is on his own covering central area of the ground inside the centre square part way between the circle and edge of the square.
Off hands the ball goes messily to Stewart but bounces out to McCreery, who does a fend off, Selwood lays a 2nd tackle. the ball bounces out Crisp gets the Groundball get, Stewart is the closes Geelong player but rather than get sucked to tackle a 2nd player, Stewart hang a few metres the main centre of congestion. As Bews lays the tackle.
As the ball bounces around the contest Cameron moves forward hard to the edge of the centre square and the halfway point of the ground, leaving Noble 20 metres behind as they move diagonally from a wide location to a central location,. The nearest player to him is Pendlebury, who is guarding space on the wing near the edge of the centre square but is looking at the ball.
The ball bounces from the congestion from the back heel of Smith toward our D50 though a few hands as Stewart gets a clean groundball get and does the small kick while under pressure from just Inside D50 wide, that is marked by Guthrie 10 metres beyond the corner of the centre circle.
Simultaneously
Gunnivan leaves Holmes and moves toward Guthrie but doesn't arrive in time to press Guthrie on the mark, Gunnivan covers the space centrally but doesn't effect the contest.
Sidebottom becomes the closest player to Holmes as they move through the centre of the ground.
Rohan runs to the centre of the ground presenting in some space by Guthrie doesn't look in that direction. Maynard initially half a step follows but holds his position.
Pendlebury leaves the space near Cameron and sprints to contest Guthrie, covering about 25 metres to meet Guthrie.
Cameron moves toward our goal with Noble following but not having body contact.
By the time Pendlebury has arrived to man the mark Guthrie has handballed to Duncan who is running wing side of the mark. It is a poor handball that forces Duncan to take the Pendlebury tackle on before he can dispose of it. Duncan holds his feet and handballs back to Guthrie who also runs wing side. Gunnivan tracks Guthrie to the otherside of the contest to no effect.
N.Daicos gets sucked in towards contest but holds his position and let Close run through the back of the contest. Close doesn't get involved but N.Daicos attention has been pulled away from the centre of the ground.
Noble with eyes on the contest was standing about 10 metres in front on Cameron before Cameron starts moving hard toward the wing. Maynard abandons Rohan to sprint to the wing to chase after Cameron who has found himself over the top near the boundary in some space.
Sidebottom abandons his central coverage near Holmes to sprint at full speed after Rohan as he rapidly closes the distance. Roahn is about 35 metres clear the start.
Guthrie runs a bit into the vacated space before kicking to the space that Cameron is moving into. Cameron takes a few steps before kicking long. Which buys Rohan time to arrive in the D50. Despite Noble being closer to Cameron Maynard arrived first to pressure to pressure but not impact Cameron's kick.
Sidebottom loses his feet as the Rohan drops the mark, the ball deflects into the most useful direction possible, Rohan collects the ball but as he starts to trip he handball the ball to an unguarded Holmes who kicks the goal.

All of Collingwood KPDs, Ruckman and Quaynor got sucked up to the contest at the half back flank that was ultimately only contested by Dangerfield and Howe. To be fair even Hawkins and Cameron were sucked in. But unlike pretty much everyone Cameron wasn't caught ball watching he immediately started pushing forward well before we won the ball back.
Cameron had a mismatch to and from the contest. This mismatch caused Maynard to make the wrong decision in leaving Rohan.
Pendlebury rightfully not trusting Gunnivan to contest Guthrie and Duncan, removed a player from providing defensive coverage for the move that Holmes did. Close's move also dragged a third player away that could have covered Holmes' final run.
Sidebottom ran really well to cover Rohan, had Rohan marked he would have been forced to take a set shot as Rohan was facing away from the goal when he attempted to mark.
Off the ball running is horribly under appreciated by the fans. Spacing and timing was also crucial. Some moves only worked because the Geelong player waited a few moments for the next player to get the time to get into the next position.
Collingwood players overcommitting players to specific contests resulted in our players getting into space on the outside. There 3-4 stages of failure that resulted in Holmes being entirely on his own.

The AFL will want to wait as long as they can before the backlash becomes too much and a lot of that will be to appease their media partners, especially for prime time matches & viewership
They'd rather take extra time to try and give themselves the best chance of scheduling matches between top 8 teams on Thursday & Friday nights, leaving the Sunday afternoon timeslots for the lower drawing matches
For example, right now they'll be wanting to see if Collingwood can break into the top 8 so they can give them some more prime timeslots knowing they'll generally draw larger audiences than say North and at the moment Hawthorn. Even Richmond with their poor current season will be dropping down the list for preferential timeslots
But Carlton will be getting a little higher on the list, along with us
Annoying for the fans trying to plan things, but it's all about the $$$, and the TV deal is where it's at

Anybody know the name and artist of the song that was played after each of Zach Tuohy’s goals on Saturday at the MCG?
In 2024 not one Geelong player has gathered 30 possessions in any of our first seven games. Our best possession player is Holmes who is tracking at a modest 23 a game. Thinking back to the 2007-2011 Bomber Thompson era we would usually see two or three mids breach the 30 mark a game. This raises a few obvious questions.
1. Is this by design? Are dominant inside midfielders like we see in Carlton, Melbourne and Brisbane overrated in their impact on the game and that role has been deliberately neglected by Scott's setup?
2. Do we simply not have any good midfielders?
3. Is this a statistical anomaly that will rectify itself as the station plays out?
4. Does Geelong rotate players through the"hotspots" more than other teams?
