I really hate the fact that they killed Marissa off. It's not thats it's "The M.C.", but she takes away the old feeling off the show that made it big. The 4th season better be good.

Sounds like Mischa Barton wanted too much money.

She'd be getting a lot of film offers.

I liked the first series.

I watched the entire series before it premiered in Australia. I liked it before it was cool!

But from the second series onwards, it was just trashy.

There was something about the first series that set it apart. It was smart, funny and well-written. It went downhill in a big way once it started going for shock value and scandalous plotlines.

Let's hope Mischa chooses an erotic thriller for her next project. Something where she's running around in her underpants for 120 minutes.

Mischa Barton is the least talented actress ive ever seen, she wouldnt even make it on Home and Away never mind mainstream movies.

I think this is the last we will hear of her

It wont be, the episode order for the 4th season has already been cut before its even gone to air in the US. It went down from 22 episodes to just 16.

1. tell us something we dont know, wise-ass. :)

2. They said it's possible that they might order more (the rest of the seaons had atleast 25 episodes). I think FOX would be making it a bit obvious that their giving it the death sentence, and are in other words saying this will be the last season. I think some contributing factors to it's 5m audience in the U.S. is that when the first season debuted with high acclaim, it was as a summer show (which I think works with the themes of the show), but then it was moved to Fall, and now they've pushed it to the middle of the season, apparently meant to start in November.

3. I never thought that this show would go for like 8 or 9 seasons, but I thought it would atleast last 5 seasons (even if it went to 6)(these teen-drama shows normally do; like Dawson's Creek went for 6 seasons).

4. I think all the big shows now wont last too long, like 10 seasons, because alot of them seem to be a little bit different; hence why they are big. i.e. I dont think Lost should go for longer than 4 seasons, otherwise it's going to just be stupid.

I also enjoyed season one, but I haven't watched the show much since season two's 'lesbian-gate' incident

in my opinion, the show went downhill for these reasons:

- Luke left the show, and was never adequately replaced with another male character

- Seth and Summer got together, effectively robbing Seth of his 'geekiness' and thus turning his wisecracks from funny to obnoxious

- Jimmy Cooper became a guest actor, instead of a series regular. He wasn't necessarily a central character to the show, but I found him both funny and interesting, and felt his character could have been developed so much more than it was (especially his relationship with Kirsten)

- Anna was never properly developed as a character, and her absence robbed the show of its only likeable female lead at that time (Summer is likeable, but tends to go through annoying stages, and Marissa is a monotonous one-trick pony)

- the decision to introduce Sandy and Kirsten's marriage problems was also a mistake, as it robbed the show of its 'anchor'. Their marriage was one of the absolute cornerstones of this show, and by putting Sandy in distress, the writers robbed the show of one of its main sources of gags, and probably robbed Sandy of much of his likeability in the process. Even worse, they gave Kirsten a drinking problem, and wrung every last likeable drop out of her character

there were many other reasons (most of which I obviously can't go into, as I haven't regularly watched the show in ages), but I think these were the main things that have left the show as a mere shadow of its original form

I'd still happily watch season one reruns though :thumbsu:

The ratings are not too good because of the strong competition in the timeslot. I know what happens for the rest of the season so the suspense is not there.

But losing Barton won't kill the show- I am sure there will be fans upset but as long as they have a good storyline, the show will remain strong. That is why season 2 was not that great to season 1.

Agree TigerFan. I would also add:
* Introducing problems for the Cohen marriage was not the way to go. And it continued in season 3, did not get better
* Never really resolving the Threresa storyline- last night showed it to some extent but it did not go far enough
* Not resolving the Kirsten abortion thing
* Losing Jimmy has really impacted on the show in my view.

Has it ever been cool?

Watched it once, saw some talentless f***s mixed with stupid plots.

Never watched it again. :)

The funny thing was that Mischa gave away the HUGE CLIFFHANGER that she was going to cark it in an interview a few days before the episode aired in America.

Don't know what was up with that >,>

I watched most of the whole first season but of the second I only saw it occassionally as a guilty pleasure. Its just that they played the ryan marissa "will they get together, will they not" card for soooooo long....and then they kill her off? I'm not sure if it will recover.

Mischa is not just a pretty face though, she had a magical performance in the above average movie Lawn Dogs with Sam rockwell.

She chucked her guts out in the sixth sense though.... >,>

is it just me or has ch 10 skipped a few episodes?

what happened to Sadie? I really havent paid that much attention

I think she left Ryan, to move on with her business or something, can't really remember even though it was like 2 weeks ago!!) The last couple of weeks of the show have caught my interest again, the whole Seth-Anna-Summer thing is there, and the Ryan-Marissa-other guy thing is there, again. Last week, the chick that Ryan hooked up with while visiting his mum was hot (and is an identical twin  )! Maybe she can take Mischa's place....

Marissa dying...that wasn't hard to pick, given her life on the show.

Does anone know how she gets bumped off?

the guy who listed the reasons why its gone ****... sooo true.

when luke left, 'ducky' was an ok replacement - he was replaced (kinda) by trey - he was also ok... the next replacement - taylor townsend. GAY.

also true about sandy/kirsten. No troubles, no booze. Cornerstone. If it aint broke....

I don't want to the show to end.

I look a bit like Seth and that helps me to get girls :) - DON'T TURN SETH EVIL!
