****, he's only 22! It feels like he's been a solid to good player forever. I really hope he can take that next step and become elite because I seriously think he could be the missing ingredient.

How does he get proven if he's not played there?

Of course he doesn't.

But I think the calls for him to mid are also based on the fact we never had near a full mid compliment last year. I actually think we could have gone further if not for injuries to our two best players (Wells, Swallow) which really hampered us (despite what opposition fans might think), and an untimely suspension to Boomer let alone Hansen going down at the worst time.

When they are all playing together I see Atley as a welcome bonus yes, but not a necessary shift. I think he is at his best without traffic and clear room ahead. He won't get that as a mid and his current role suits very well.

When we lose a couple to retirement/injuries etc I see Ats in the middle/wing for sure. I just don't see the urgency just yet and as previous, he has yet to show mid abilities for mine as in traffic he panics and he is not a natural ball winner.

Really enjoying the List Assessment videos. Great work from our media department. I'm really excited to see what Dumont can do this year; it would be great if he broke into the team for Round 1.

Not North Melbourne related but...

Fremantle player Colin Sylvia will train with partner WAFL club Peel Thunder after it was determined he was not meeting the physical requirements for AFL football.

General manager football operations Chris Bond said the 29-year-old had not been able to get himself to the standard required by Fremantle.

“We will continue to work closely with Colin, but he now has the opportunity to go to Peel Thunder and focus on getting himself back to the level required to play in the AFL,” Bond said.

What a disaster he's been for Freo.

My call for him to move to the midfield this year is that I want him to be guided while playing there by players of equal ilk. Its not because of 2014 its because of 2017. Boomer will be gone then. Wellsy will likely not be playing in there anywhere near as much.

He needs midfield time and soon so that when 2017 rolls around he's cut his teeth and is not overwhelmed.

Slow steady transition.

I really do not agree with the second bolded part.

Was about to post the same thing almost word for word.

Amazing to think he's only 22, in another 3 years he will be lethal.

Carlton supporter here, Doing a blog for uni...going to a few clubs training sessions to see what they do and what they do differently.
I went to North's today

A few notes
- good talk and understanding among the players, seem to coach themselves at times.
- Hansen was only running laps but looked bigger than I have previously seen him, on the other side of the spectrum Jarrad Waite looks slimmer than he did with Carlton from memory which is good for the way he plays and his injury concerns.
-Strong focus on quick ball movement.
- match practice for most of the session, a couple of umpires were also there training up. During match practice the ball the contests were stopped and started at different positions of the ground, a couple of assistants were strongly stating not to get sucked in to the contest by players further up the field allowing space and which further allows quick ball movement.

Any injuries as C7 are reporting one to a key player?
