I'm a proud Victorian, but some people on here have the mentality that Cam White is the next Kapil Dev. FFS he barely bowls for Victoria. He would play purely as a batsman who bowls as often as a Hussey or a Ponting. Point two, we have about 15-20 better batsman floating around the country than him, Roy Symonds and (dont get on my back for this) Shane Watson are two of them.

PS. I know this has been discussed a million times, but it just needs to be said again.

Re: White Is Not An Allrounder

The sooner he dumps the state captaincy the better his bowling will be. Seems far too hesitant to bowl himself.

Captain or not, doesn't spin the ball enough to be effective!

Re: White Is Not An Allrounder

His captaincy is worth far more than his bowling

that is true but with time he could be a similar to anil kumble (not saying he is kumble), but he almost refuses to bowl he self instead mcgain or another spinner oftem even hodge gets bowled before white

Re: White Is Not An Allrounder

The bloke will be a star! Just needs a bit more time to develop, he is potentially good enough to make the Australian team on his batting alone.

If he can keep improving his bowling will only be a bonus. The potential is there. After all his first class bowling average is better than both Cullen and Bailey, two young spinners with Cricket Australia contracts. People criticise his bowling way too much, he is not that bad. Have seen him have some very good players in all sorts of trouble

Re: White Is Not An Allrounder

White should just forget about bowling legspin and concentrate on his batting, which, while erratic, can be sensational.

He's got so much raw talent, would hate to see it go to waste.

Re: White Is Not An Allrounder

Yeah look guys.....White is fantastic. Would be in all my Aus teams if i was head selector. I see him as a Kev Peitersen type in our middle order.

As we all know his bowling has gone way backwards from his first 2 seasons when he was a gun leggie, however, he got a fair few wickts in county cricket last season considering he didnt bowl much & had an allright average so hope is not lost.

BUT, for the moment, he cant get his stock leg-spinner working on most Aus pitches, he literally does not even spin it 2cm but yet he gets his wrong'uns to rip much more. This has always had me wondering why he has not turned himself into an offie.

But i dont care bout his bowling. I luv his agressive power batting & think its outragious that he aint in the test side & atrocious that he aint in the ODI team & its f**king insane he isnt the first name on the 20/20 team sheet.

So nothing to do with the fact he is not in the best 7 batsmen in Australia. And we have Symonds, we don't need two inconsistent batsmen in our lineup thanks, not to mention Clarke is hardly the world's safest no 4/5! 20/20 I'll agree, the others no way, he was tried in ODI's and apart from 1 or 2 innings did nothing! Hopes did more!

One of the best lower order (No.6 or 7) in the game. Was ubelivable he wasnt picked for the 20/20 WC. He has twice smashed 140+ in 20/20 games once for Richmond and once for somerset.

Still finding is feet in ODI team, but shud be in th 20 20 team.

How are things going with the Ice rehab?

You must be kidding, because he turns his wrongun, which is bowled absolutely nothing like an off spinner, he should quit bowling leg spin and take up bowling off spin?? That seems perfectly logical.

Test side? I can see the point with the 20/20 side, he was servicable in the ODI side, maybe deserves another go there, but, the Test side, you have got to be joking.

Re: White Is Not An Allrounder

Three years ago all the Victorians were labelling him the answer to Warne...

How times change!

Very good bat, very average bowler...

Lol okay

I think he deserves a run in the ODI side pretty soon. Has already improved his batting a ton since last summer and has really matured his batting.

In his first couple of seasons maybe, and that year when he got that 6-fer, people were getting carried away with this 'next Warne' status. A young blonde leggie, the comparisons were obvious. Thankfully from 2004/05 onwards he started to concentrate on his batting and he's continually improving. Hasn't bowled himself much for years.

Cam White to be picked in aus test side

it is to my knowledge that cameron white will be picked in the aussie if he can get through vics pura cup game with a few wickets.

the selectors will pick him

as they can go with their full pace attack

When I saw this thread I was kinda hoping it wasn't by bushranger.
