I'm vsing someone who scrapped in to score just over 1000 last week. I'm thinking of resting some of my star players, and giving a few of the younger players a run. :p

Sounds like most people in here have it pretty easy first up.

I am 240th overall and scored 1972 last week, yet i'm coming up against a team (which will have the full 22, unlike most), who averages just under 1700, and could give it a shake with the right players playing well.

I'm a little nervous walking into this first round.
I'm in a similar boat mate. My opponent averages like 1690 but his midfield is crazy and could just go off. I'm a bit edgy about it aswell.

...the way they seem to work it is that they split the total 131,072 teams into two halves...65,536 teams in each half! Then the rankings from lat week match each other up....so the top scoring team from last week is matched up against the top scoring team from the second half (the team ranked 65,537 for the week)...

so it looks kind of like this I ASSUME:
1 vs 65,537
2 vs 65,538
3 vs 65,539 etc etc.

It's been established already that this is not the way the draw has been done.

It seems that top half teams have been matched against bottom half teams, but it is not apparent how these matchups have been decided. It is certainly not a direct result of the weekly ranking.

It is possible that after ranking teams based on the previous round, that the draw has been done based on overall rankings. (This would be quite time consuming to confirm with 100K+ teams) It also makes very little sense.

Another user suggested that the matchups may be based on when you registered your team.

I have submitted the question to the Dreamteam website, and will let you all know if I get a response.

I reckon (from looking at various people's matchups) that your ranking is base on Rd 5 score and that if you are in the best helf of the draw you play RANDOMLY someone in the bottom half. A bit like any knockout competition. So it is a bit of luck involved on who you play. And if you win your Rd 6 matchup, you will be ranked on your Rd 7 score and will randomly play someone in the other half of the draw.

Got a tough choice for DT this week. Got 115k in the bank and want to trade nicoski. Not sure if i should get bradshaw, leaving 6k left, or if i should get bret thornton, leaving 31k left.

Any ideas?

There seems to be a lot of junk teams. It makes me think that the website freeze at the first lockdown has caused a lot of players, with teams they had yet to finalise, to say "what the hell" and give up, leaving their team unattended.

Of course others are rubbish because they are too dominated by the person's favourite team and players. I think all those teams will be gone by the next round as the top half is playing the bottom half this week.

It's a great idea though and creates a lot of interest.

Plenty of people do it for fun, hence some crap teams.

It is a rubbish strategy but once a year it might work. The bloke I am playing is 110000ish and he had Didak (c), Cloke, Medhurst, Swan, Pendlebury, Fraser and Shaw.
I should still get him because the rest of his side is rubbish but there is a real chance that I won't if my guns decide not to fire, yet I'll finish at least 80k places higher than him.
