The Official Name and Shame For Online Quitters Thread

I think the reason for all the quitters is that this is a rather shitty game. When you lose it feels like the game is being cheap, rather than being beaten fairly, so heaps of people rage quit. I've started deliberately playing "badly" and not using the marking/loose player exploits.

So I can't jump on play 3 games, start my 4th then my mrs comes home and needs help with the kids or dinner? or I get a work call out of the blue? Come on mate, there are times when you need to quit. I'm happy to a less than perfect reliability rating, but don't take the ****ing high ground with a statement like that.
It was 2am.
Kids = asleep.
Dinner = already cooked.
Work call at 2am = get a real job.

With the marking exploit, if your referring to when players tackle you after a mark and sometimes it's called play on, then I agree. Needs to be fixed.

As for the loose player exploit, it's not really an exploit if it can be stopped...which it can be. A few people have tried this on me the last couple of days to no avail. For anyone struggling with it, the key is faking that your going to tackle but then don't so that you can get the guy who will receive the handball instead. Fake running at the player in possession and then turning back to man up your opponent as they try to lollipop it over the top works a charm as well. Not to mention bumping the player who's about to kick/handball to try and smother him or make him spray the kick - A very under utilized tactic.

PS3 - Jeremy2341 - Not a bad player but I started to kick away in the second quarter, so he bailed.

Add me to the list, it is ****ing ridiculous.

Was looking forward to this when the PSN came back. Played my first game and was winning pretty convincingly, and the guy quit.

Thought I'd give it another try. Next game I couldn't do shit, the guy would take it from one end to the other kick, mark, kick, mark goal. Time after time I'd be in the best position to spoil but it just wouldn't. I played that game out and took the loss though.

Next game the same thing starts happening, I am powerless to stop it.

It pissed me off that the one game where I could execute things like spoils and marks I am robbed of my win but then have to sit through the whole game when I'm being beaten. **** that! I could take losing, but I should be 1-2 not 0-2, I'm supposed to just keep playing games and have my losses keep climbing but never get a win?

The guy started ****ing around with it and giving me 50m penalties, missing shots from in front etc, what ****ing shit. I quit.

Don't worry, I won't be back on there. This game is shit.

The thing about Aussie Rules is it is not fun to get flogged. You don't get a lot of the ball, you have to sit through 20 minutes while not having a chance. At least in sports like Basketball your guaranteed to get quite a bit of the ball and at least have a few shots.

AFL Live is not fun to lose.

Believe me I have been robbed of so much time thanks to quitters. Don't get me started on 2 vs 1...

I should add myself, just quit out of rage as I played a match against 3 people, they proceeded to stand in front of me as I kicked for goal, I didn't even end up getting one goal from a set shot because of it, in the end it p***ed me off too much so I left.

Meh, I had 3 matches today where I was versing 2 or more people. Won one convincingly and the other 2 games they quit because I was belting them. Hey if they want to take a midfielder out of position at the ruck and give my midfielders more space when I when the tap, all the better

They usually are when your losing ;)

In all seriousness though, the patch will fix most, if not all of those problems you mentioned.

- Quitters will be matched with other quitters
- People of similar XP will be matched together
- Get a win when someone quits after a random time limit or a certain score is reached
+ tons more. :thumbsu:

PS3 - xfish23 - quit in the 2nd qtr once I started getting on top.

By the way, someone was questioning the purpose of this thread a few pages back - It's not for looking through to make sure you don't play anyone who's name is posted here, especially since you can't see who your playing before you play.

IMO what it does is stop anyone from BigFooty, who has posted there gamertag/PSN name somewhere here, from quitting. If they do quit and we put their name here, someone may have that person on their friends list or whatever. They'd then be called out for being a little b*tch for quitting. If they have a legitimate reason for quitting like you said, then they come here and explain themselves. If they aren't from here then there's no harm done because people will still play against them as they can't tell who it is until after the match.

After the patch, this thread will become more useful as we'll be able to see who we are about to play against before the match begins (I think?). No, we won't be looking through all the names trying to find the player we are about to play, but you can at least look at the most recent 5-10 posts and remember a few names, as those guys are probably still online playing.

PSN - freo-docker

4.1.25 to 0.0.0 10 minutes into the first quarter.

TBH I've had a very good run with this game so far, looking at my games played and the one's that are considered completions, I've only had 10 quitters in 42 games.

I agree that it sucks balls when you're losing and it just seems like nothing is going your way, but I really don't think it justifies quitting because you just aren't good enough (and I've found that is generally the problem if you're losing, they are just doing better than you...hard to accept when it might be completely opposite in another match, but it's the way it goes).

PSN - Samus 01

2nd quarter and I was up by 4 goals. He quit when I missed a shot but he illegally bumped me off the ball 20 meters out directly in front at the same time. Was about to slot it through...

I haven't had a bad run either in regards to quitters really. A few more than you HBK, but it's not as many as it could be by the sounds of things.

Edit: You up for a game now HBK?

A classic example of not being good at the game and calling it shit. Yes, it sucks when someone quits out on you but that doesn't make it a bad game.

yeh i hope they fix that its really bad bug i reken i players shouldn't beable get that close it should be 50m if it was in real rules it would be 50 aswell so it needs to be fixed hopes it in the patch

But it is a pretty average game..... so he has a point.

Take FIFA for example, when you get beaten, generally you can see how the oppenent beat you skill wise. This game is just tackle, handball and giggle.

Are you serious super mod??

80% of the game is this until someone finally gets a break away. Are you saying the tackling isn't rediculous?

This is exactly what I'd expect someone who doesn't fully understand and know how to play the game to say.

I've said it before and I'll say it again, the tackling is not an issue on this game if you know how to create and find space. Very important, very hard to master, and very hard to counter when/if you do master it.

The games HBK and I just had are a perfect example. I would almost say there was too much running into space in those games. Free players were everywhere because we know how to free them up because we don't waste our time 'tackling, handballing and giggling'.

Very true, only about 50 tackles on your side to 60 on mine I think at the end of both games, hardly tackle fests.

We both clearly knew how to find space and how to utilise it well...now to work on shutting your space down.;)

There's the occasion that I feel like a situation might have stuffed me (there definitely could be a little more continuity in the change player button, it just sticks a little too much). But if you end up losing a match, it's not because they've just managed to get a bit more free space from the handballing and tackling fests. It's because they've performed better than you and I could categorically break down how someone has beaten me in all of my matches (and it 99% of the time doesn't result in them just getting some lucky handballs out).

This game is no more or less different to FIFA in the way results play out.

Well, I don't need any more convicing.

As said, if that's all you're able to do, you're doing it wrong.

It was 2am.

All good and well, but the argument was "it's a 20 minute game, don't start one unless you know you've got 20 minutes to finish it" which I wont cop.
Agree there's no reason other than rage to quit at 2am... well maybe fire but that's unlikely.

Yeah.... except for the game where I was 40 points up just out from 3/4 time........ I'm obviously just shit

I can accept that I'll win some and lose some but when you get that chance to win and it always gets taken away......how can you get better at that?

This game would be pretty much entirely played by australians and yet on most occasions my guy wouldn't react for about half a second after the ball was kicked towards them. When that happens, you cannot stop them going coast to coast, no matter how 'good' you are.

Even worse still - sometimes they would just run in the freaking opposite direction!

On other occasions, I would be chasing a loose ball and change player to bring in some support. The guy chasing would often just stop, think and then start chasing again....great, now the guy has that split second longer and can get a kick away, then as above my defender would glitch and not react.

Sure..... you could probably learn all of these glitches and exploit them to become 'good' but it doesn't make the game 'not shit' for having them in the first place.

I hardly get tackle fests anymore. Sometimes around ball ups it can happen, but in general play now I can hit up by foot and draw players to get the overlap.

Last night (playing a 2 on 1 online) had Hargrave draw two players on the opposition 50, pass to Griffin who then ran down the wing and sloted it from outside 50.
