The possibility of Essendon innocence: a travesty of justice or conspiracy theory for the ages?

I am not claiming it was a political stunt.

IT was a political stunt nothing more.
The reward was continued and extended funding for ASADA.
Are you a little touched?
It's pretty obvious.

So because political mileage was had, it must've all been bullshit? What a ridiculous thing to say.

Under the WADA/ASADA rules, which the AFL signed up for, there was enough evidence to ban the players for doping. End of. May not have met the criminal standard but doesn't have to. And for me, who went way down the rabbit hole with documentation and legalities at the time, the outcome was obvious and inevitable.

Asada manipulated evidence to get a guilty verdict? yeah Asada not dodgy at all  lols.

Time to give Jobes brownlow back and players exonerated.

What are you on about? ASADA didn't do shit. Your cheating was so outrageous it went to WADA to overrule due to ASADAs bungling and the afl's efforts to sweep it under the rug

Remember when Essendon sports scientist Stephen Dank admitted to seven time Walkley winner Nick McKenzie on the national broadcaster's flagship current affairs program that he'd given the players TB4?

Then looked like he'd just died on the spot when McKenzie told him TB4 was banned?

And how months later Essendon produced THIS to refute what Dank had told McKenzie?

How did ASADA bungle? They did everything correctly. Every step of the way.

The only bungling was the AFL Kangaroo Court. They should have given the players half a season. By letting them off it opened the door to international scrutiny and WADA were always going to appeal.

The funniest part was that Robbo went with that photo as the smoking gun moment!!

The ASADA bungling thing, was really just an AFL/Essendon PR move to discredit them.

Regardless of what you think of the club, Hird, Robinson or Dank, the players have been utterly stitched up.

- pushed back against the program to get clarity that it was in line with wada
- interviewed with asada without the presence of legal counsel on the basis that the investigation was about Dank, not about them
- names smeared in the press through a coordinated leak of exaggerated information and often complete untruths
- banned from the 2013 finals series after a 14 win season
- twice cleared by Australian tribunals in 2014 and 2015
- banned again in 2016 by a Swiss court based on a ‘strands in a cable’ analogy that has no legal precedent
- Dank and Robinson suffer no penalties
- Abused (both them and their families including children) publicly in the streets for being drug cheats

A stitch up and a disgrace.

Fair enough go the club, fair enough go the people in charge, fair enough to the blokes who did this at cronulla, GCS, Essendon and probably Geelong, but the players don’t deserve this miscarriage of justice.
the players sound like they were collectively dumb as dogs**t the whole time and at worst deceitful.

they were complicit in lying to asada testers regarding injections, which means their credibility is dashed.

they also could've and should've taken short term deals and had it end miles earlier because blind freddy knew they were f***ed.

they probably listened to too many of their delusional fans that it was some sort of conspiracy which cooked them in the end.

next time don't dope or lie to testers and take the deal.

no sympathy from me. if they're smart they'll treat it as a learning experience. Jobe obviously isn't

Ummm, they took a banned drug.

They broke the rules, were found guilty, and were punished.

That's not a stitch up.

I sometimes wonder whether Essendon thinks and acted in a Trump like manner, or Trump thinks and acts in an Essendon like manner.

That said, Trump has won a final in recent years.
