Doubt Kelly if he did want to go would let that happen. A fair trade would be pick 1 for Kelly and giving GWS cap relief to re-sign players currently considering modest offers.

I can easily imagine North and Carlton, but how could Essendon and especially Hawthorn even hope to be able to afford him (in terms of a trade that GWS would actually agree to)?

Hawks certainly couldn't. Not sure about Essendon. I guess it's one of those moments where you see if the player is on board with the move and try to work out the rest later.

We've long specialised in winning the games that don't really matter other than to worsen our draft position. Over the last seven years we've had 25% more wins in later parts of the season, and did the same in '05 and '07 as well. At our best in any of those years we had a 36% win rate in the first half of the season, whereas our best second half was 64%.

Really puts in to context how shithouse the saints have been to win 27. I searched "wooden spoon history afl" and first in the results of the "People Also Searched For" function was St Kilda hahhahaha

Ah the infamous "anti-spoon" cup. Jordy fulfilled every kid's dream and simultaneously sent Demon fans into conniptions at the thought of the first two picks.
