It's an exciting time to be alive. Once the Australian Open and the AFL Non-Binary League is outta the way we get to focus on the real stuff once again. For the first time since 2019, the return of AFL Men's. For real this time.
I'd like to thank our de facto premiers, Richmond 2020* and Melbourne 2021*. Though your premierships are not official, I think we can say we all enjoyed watching some AFL Men's in lockdown, even when it was just 16 minutes a quarter during a shortened season or when certain teams were disadvantaged due to COVID protocols, or there was no crowds. Legitimate AFL Men's or not, it was very entertaining, and you provided the most heartwarming premierships since Bob Murphy. Well done.
The AFL Men's owes you a debt of gratitude for keeping the home fires burning , and should start with a minute's applause before the return of the real stuff after two and a half long years.
Richmond and Melbourne, we salute you.
Now the boys are finally back after 2019, can Richmond finally go back to back? Or will GWS be hardened after their last game and come out all guns blazing to win their inaugural flag?
Thank you.
