The Wallabies have received an extraordinary reception from the locals of Montpellier, with 10,000 fans turning out for an open training session at Stade Yves du Manoir.
The 13,000 seat venue had three of its Grandstands completely full of spectators, the majority of which had arrived two hours prior to the start of the training session to secure a seat.
Flyhalf Stephen Larkham, who has played in two Rugby World Cup finals for the Wallabies, said the packed Stadium provided a “game-like” atmosphere.
Larkham admitted to nerves before running out onto the training field and afterwards backed the Wallabies decision to set up their World Cup base in Montpellier after receiving such strong support from the locals.
The Wallabies were without lock Dan Vickerman at training, who withdrew from the session with virus-like symptoms.
Backs Stirling Mortlock, Berrick Barnes and Adam Ashley-Cooper each completed the training session, showing signs they have overcome their injury concerns.
Prop Guy Shepherdson trained today despite suffering a cork above his left knee in Saturday afternoon’s team training session.
The Wallabies will announce their team on Wednesday (5 September) to play Japan in their opening Rugby World Cup 2007 pool match next in Lyon Saturday.

Did anyone see the footage on the news? It was bizarre...The crowd was cheering tries at training haha

ooh cant wait till the first game

will be watching the world cup with a lot of interest as the times are perfect for me in the UK. tonight sees the pumas tackle the frenchies, it will be a quality game and im hoping that the pumas gets the tournament off to a great start.

Replay of the match on now. France's strip loks terrible - they are meant to be blue, they look like the all blacks from a distance

How bad were France? It looked like Laporte just threw seven blokes from the street into his backline - they were abysmal.

I spent four weeks in a French overseas department recently and I saw them play many times. I told them repeatedly that they weren't going to measure up if they did some of the things they were doing then. They can still turn it around, but tough from there.

The Puma's defence was unbelievable.....

They were pumped, as anyone could see during the national anthem at the start.... A couple of the guys had tears in their eyes

The frogs didn't handle the pressure at all

Argentina are a very strong, physical team.

Very underrated by some people.

Still, they should be a team that France beat.

We're up tonight against the USA, I'm not expecting too much from us in this to be totally honest with you,

Italy are a lot better than this.
