The run home and the finals format

the media driven dribble? Like when the media said Richmond are a chance to win the flag this year? Your no better then North Melborune last year they beat the top 4 teams.

I remember seeing Richmond get toweled up by 9th place Adelaide recently.

Richmond won't get close to the top 4(Sydney 4th) come finals and that's a fact.
Didn't north make a prelim last year? I'd take that as a tiger fan.

Do you think tiger fans actually believed the pump up we were getting last week? The media went from one week saying we could win the flag to a week later saying we could miss finals.

Never as good or as bad as what they say.

*A fact is only confirmed after the event not prior to it happening Nostradamus

I did in a ladder predictor and got this, most of the results will vary based on percentage.

1. Fremantle 18-4
2. West Coast 17-1-4
3. Hawthorn 17-5
4. Bulldogs 15-7
5. Sydney 15-7
6. North 14-8
7. Richmond 14-8
8. Giants 14-8
----
9. Geelong 13-9
10. Adelaide 12-9
11. Collingwood 10-9
12. Port Adelaide 9-13

so u think GWS will beat Port and Sydney?

Definitely possible but they didn't impress me last week. Their first half was shocking. if they were playing a decent team and not the injectors the game would of been over.

i also believe Geelong and Adelaide are greater than GWS

Not our fault media pump us up, they do it to every ****ing team that gets on a string of wins . 8 weeks ago it was collingwood, Now its the dogs , next week it will be Geelong , then back to the swans and then maybe to Adelaide again.

So true, to many morons in the media and most are ex players. Campbell brown, boy how does that guy get a gig?

Last week the swans were back and this week they are cooked. Last week tiges contenders and this week they'll miss the 8. It's all dribble from guys justifying their roles.

I think they can do it but hey anything can happen.

For what it's worth as well, taking ladder positions out of the equation for a minute, I'd rate the following teams as better than the Bulldogs. In no particular order:

Hawthorn
Fremantle
West Coast
Sydney
Adelaide
North Melbourne
Richmond
Geelong

I have the Bulldogs firmly in the 9th-12th category, but due to fortunate circumstances and that dream run as I've explained above, they have weaseled their way into finals calculations.

Even a 9th-12th team can look like a Top 4 team, when they only have to play a Top 8 team once in 12 weeks.
a couple of things Reapy my boy, how do you rate Adelaide higher than the dogs, Adelaide has suffered in off field circumstances but even prior to that the bulldogs belted them up by 60 odd points, North Melbourne have been absolutely underwhelming for the large part of this year now should they come out and whip those pups into next week I'll agree with you but for the moment North are about even with us, as for Richmond, well sometimes they show up and destroy a top four side, sometimes they forget what a football is completely, inconsistency has been their bane and for that I find it hard to say they're better. The weagles we will find out in round 21 about them as for the rest. sure why not.

The Dogs are no chance in September, really. Tiges posters have got it right hre.

It takes mature, experienced, finals hardened bodies and seasoned game plans to win finals. That's why the Hawks, Freo, Richmond and Sydney will again rise to the top.

Man, I love flying under the radar. :)

So much hate between tiges and doggies fans. Thing is, finals is a whole different ball game and Doggies haven't played since 2010, so there really is no telling how they'll go. I see them in a similar way to where Port were at in 2013 and they surprised everyone when they won their first final and then took it to Geelong in the semi.
As for Richmond, we've played finals 2 years in a row now and anything less than a finals win is unacceptable, anything more is a plus, in my eyes anyway.
There is a really fine line between cocky and confident, and you all sound cocky. We don't have anything to be cocky about, nor do dogs fans.

They are loud and proud here, shame they forgot to turn up to Etihad against Port. Probably 5k Port supporters and a few thousand Medallion members leaves an ordinary 12 or 13k Dog supporters going for a top 4 position.

Yep, you nailed them.

It seems to me that there's a potential advantage to Freo if they lose to West Coast this week. A West Coast win would give them a good chance of finishing top 2 (and a WC loss would mean this was unlikely) and mean that Freo would likely retain home ground advantage in a WA prelim and not face West Coast in that match. They would face WC on GF day at a 'neutral venue". Hawthorn in WA in the prelim and WC at the MCG in the GF has to be far more preferable than the reverse.

Edit: Apologies I know see whole thread devoted to this idea:

We only usually need 1 qtr against your mob.

Nup... 15mins was enough last year.

On a side note, how good would North and Richmond be with Beveridge coaching them? (ie: a coach with a game plan)

I am historically one of the doggies biggest haters but even I love what they're doing and see that finally (my life time of 30 odd years) that they get it and have identified and implemented a premiership contending type structure, in terms of a spine and a whole bunch of fast and/or hard and/or skillful players. Good on them.

I haven't looked forward to a doggies game since round 22 1998, but bring it the **** on, should be an absolute cracker and if Sydney lose a game in the meantime it will be absolutely enormous.

My predicted ladder is as follows:
  1. Freo
  2. Hawthorn
  3. WCE
  4. Sydney
  5. WB
  6. Richmond
  7. Geelong
  8. Adelaide
Question - if Freo wins their QF vs fourth (Sydney in this case), does Freo get the Friday night Prelim two weeks later? I would assume this to be the case, as it is the most logical outcome, but is it at the whim of the AFL?

My ladder predictor has the round 23 match between Geelong and Adelaide coming down to percentage. Not only will Geelong need to win, but they may need to win by a certain margin to jump over Adelaide. That's going to be spectacular viewing.

Was fiddling with the ladder predictor and came up with this finals series.

Nice try, but if Hawthorn lost their QF to WCE at the MCG week 1, they'd play Adelaide at the MCG week 2, not the Adelaide Oval, based on your assumptions.

Apart from that it all seems legit......................
