Bit like me when the missus asks me when I'll be home from the pub - I tell her, "Between 8pm and 10pm, give or take an hour or two."

3 Rounds Left

A lot of the bottom teams failed to secure a win on the weekend, ending many of their finals chances. Majority of the top 8 is now set, with only positioning inside the 8 to worry about in these final rounds.

Fixtures:
Round 11: BYE
Round 12: Gold City Royals @ House of Gumby
Round 13: Fighting Furies @ rfctigerarmy's hippodrome

A great victory over the Baghdad Bombers moves Gumbies one game clear on top of the ladder. With a massive percentage gap above all the rest, it seems inevitable that Gumbies will finish in the top 4 again and play in another qualifying final. Gumbies will be watching the games from the sidelines this weekend very closely to see which other teams try to contend for top 4 spots. The bye this week will be a much needed breather for them as they look towards finals.

A top 2 finish and a home qualifying final are well within reach if Gumbies can win just one of their final 2 games. Royals (currently 3rd) at home will be difficult to win but will also be a good opportunity to see another top 4 team before a possible finals face-off. Furies (currently 11th) away from home should be a very winnable game, but Furies are still with a chance to make finals, so it could be a more heated contest than what was once thought.

Win both games and they will finish on top of the ladder. Lose both games and top 4 is still likely, but if they get thrashed by 60+ points in both games they might find themselves in 5th spot with a home elimination final if they aren't careful.

Roys FFC
Fixtures:
Round 11: Ophidian Old Boys @ Brunswick Junction Oval
Round 12: Coney Island Warriors @ Van Cordlandt Park
Round 13: West Coast Wonders @ Brunswick Junction Oval

4 wins in a row for the Roys and they have now jumped all the way up into 2nd spot on the ladder. Roys are hitting their stride at the best possible time right before finals in an attempt to go back-to-back and win another premiership. Finals are all but confirmed for Roys as they will need to lose all of their final 3 games by sizeable margins in order to miss out on playing this finals series. Top 4 however is still a ways away from being set in stone.

Old Boys (currently 5th) this week at home will be a danger game for Roys, as Ophidian seem to have their groove back and are making big moves to try and get into the top 4. After that, Roys have the Warriors (currently 13th) and Wonders (currently 7th) to finish the home and away season. With how great their form has been, you would assume Roys easily overcome their final 2 games and make top 4. If they do, then this weeks game against Old Boys will decide if they finish top 2 and host a home qualifying final or not.

Their coach/captain TedDougChris hasn't played a game this season and might be the perfect weapon to unleash during finals to give them the edge they need to win.

Gold City Royals
Fixtures:
Round 11: Baghdad Bombers @ The Golden Throne
Round 12: Gumbies FFC @ House of Gumby
Round 13: BYE

Two good wins in a row for the Royals and now they are sitting well inside the top 8 with 2 games and a bye left. The bad news is Royals have to play Bombers (currently 4th) and Gumbies (currently 1st) in their final 2 games of the season and top 8 isn't 100% certain yet. It is a difficult next fortnight for Gold City as they will need to overcome one of these top 4 sides to confirm finals this season.

This weeks Bombers game at home will be a big test for their premiership credentials and is their most important game this season. Win and top 8 is locked. Lose and Royals will have to travel to Gumbies FFC and try to knock over the team on top of the ladder in order to make finals. If they lose both then their will be many nervous Royals players watching on the sidelines during their bye week to see if they sneak into finals or not.

Fixtures:
Round 11: Gold City Royals @ The Golden Throne
Round 12: Fighting Furies @ Abdu Prison
Round 13: Las Vegas Bears @ The Stadium in the Sky

Losing to the Gumbies hurts their chances at a top 2 finish, but Bombers are still in the top 4 and can remain there if they can beat the teams below them on the ladder. A difficult game this week against Royals (currently 3rd) away from home will likely see the end of their top 2 hopes. Then they have Furies (currently 11th) and Bears (currently 12th) in their last 2 games which should be easy peasy.

Winning those last 2 games should make sure that Bombers finish top 4 and play in a qualifying final. They will need to win all 3 games to make top 2, so Royals this week will likely decide their fate inside the top 4. If Bombers somehow lose those games against Furies and Bears then they can still miss out on finals, but it is highly unlikely.

Fixtures:
Round 11: Roys FFC @ Brunswick Junction Oval
Round 12: Mount Buller Demons @ Spotswood Oval
Round 13: Dragons FFC @ Spotswood Oval

2 good wins in a row has moved Old Boys into 5th place with an opportunity now to sneak into the top 4. With the 2nd best percentage in the league, Old Boys are well placed to put pressure on the teams above them to perform. They play Roys FFC (currently 2nd) this week in a game that will almost guarantee the winner a spot inside the top 4. After that they play Demons (currently 6th) and Dragons (currently 10th) in the last 2 rounds of the season.

Old Boys just need to win one more game to confirm finals with their good percentage helping out. If Old Boys manage to win both of their final 2 home games then top 4 is on the cards, but they will likely need to knock off Roys this week to make it for sure. Lose all 3 games and they will likely be watching finals from the sidelines. This weeks game is very important for both Old Boys and Roys chances of finishing in the top 4.

Mount Buller Demons
Fixtures:
Round 11: Las Vegas Bears @ Snow Dome
Round 12: Ophidian Old Boys @ Spotwood Oval
Round 13: Coney Island Warriors @ Snow Dome

A bad loss to 11th placed Furies makes it 4 losses in a row for the Demons. They desperately need to change something up if they want to make finals. Mount Buller still have a decent run home with games against Bears (currently 12th) and Warriors (currently 13th) to go, but on current form they might lose both of those games. Old Boys (currently 5th) away from home will be a very difficult game so if they don't win both their home games Demons might not play finals this season.

It wasn't too long ago that Demons were 5-0 and looking at a perfect season with multiple players in the All-SFA team, including almost all of their midfield. What exactly happened to Mount Buller in this past month that they can't put together a 4 quarter performance? They might need an external review of the club if they miss finals after what was probably the best start to a season in the leagues history.

West Coast Wonders
Fixtures:
Round 11: Sin City Swamprats @ Underground Stadium
Round 12: East Side Phoenix @ The Colosseum
Round 13: Roys FFC @ Brunswick Junction Oval

Only 2 teams moved above Wonders on the ladder during their bye week, so it wasn't as bad as it could've been. Now Wonders have a very important next 2 weeks where they play Swamprats (currently 8th) and Phoenix (currently 9th) just below them on the ladder in 50/50 games. Then they have a very difficult final game against Roys (currently 2nd) away from home in the last round.

Wonders still need 2 wins to absolutely confirm finals. One win might be enough but they will need to hope the teams below them lose at least 2 games. Top 4 is still achievable but with their lowish percentage compared to the Demons and Old Boys, Wonders would need to win all 3 games to make it. If Wonders can carry their good form over from before the bye, then they should easily finish inside the top 8.

Premiership Puzzle Pieces (key players): Frothies Mcveigh (top goal-kicker), damicky (top tackler), ClarkeM (2nd top disposal getter)

sincity.png
Sin City Swamprats
Fixtures:
Round 11: West Coast Wonders @ Underground Stadium
Round 12: BYE
Round 13: East Side Phoenix @ The Eyrie

A win against bottom-placed Warriors was necessary to keep their finals chances alive. Now Swamprats will need to beat Wonders (currently 7th) at home if they want to stay inside the top 8. Being the lowest team on the ladder to play all 10 rounds so far is not a very comforting feeling, and the 2 point penalty will start feeling even heavier as we get down to the final couple of rounds.

Sin City's final 2 games are 50/50 coin flips against one team just above them (Wonders) and one team just below them (Phoenix). They will need to win both games if they want to make finals for sure. The very last game against East Side Phoenix will be a do-or-die final game of the season with the loser missing out on finals.

East Side Phoenix
Fixtures:
Round 11: Coney Island Warriors @ Van Cordlandt Park
Round 12: West Coast Wonders @ The Colosseum
Round 13: Sin City Swamprats @ The Eyrie

A tough loss to the Old Boys pushes East Side out of the top 8. The good news is they are just behind Swamprats on percentage and have an extra game over them in the last 3 rounds. Warriors (currently 13th) this week is a must win for Phoenix if they want to put pressure on the rest of the top 8 teams to perform. After that they play Wonders (currently 7th) and Swamprats (currently 8th) just above them on the ladder in the last 2 weeks.

Phoenix's last 2 rounds will be semi-elimination games with all of those teams vying for a top 8 spot. However, if East Side lose this week to the Warriors then it will be nearly impossible to get into the top 8, especially if Swamprats win this week. As top 4 is out of reach now, the best Phoenix can hope for is a home elimination final if they win all 3 games.

Fixtures:
Round 11: Fighting Furies @ Ljp86’s Lair
Round 12: Las Vegas Bears @ Ljp86’s Lair
Round 13: Ophidian Old Boys @ Spotswood Oval

Losing to the Royals by just 2 points has really hurt Dragons chances at making finals. They now need to win all of their last 3 games to make it and even then, their low percentage might keep them out if Swamprats and/or Phoenix manage to win 2 of their games. The good news is Dragons have Furies (currently 11th) and Bears (currently 12th) in their next 2 weeks, making it possible to draw level with Phoenix and Swamprats who play each other in the last game.

If Dragons can win their next 2 games against fellow bottom 4 teams, then they will have a chance to sneak into the top 8. But they will still need to knock off the Old Boys in the final round and hope Phoenix and Swamprats draw in their final game.

Likely Final Ladder Position: 10th

Fixtures:
Round 11: Dragons FFC @ Ljp86’s Lair
Round 12: Baghdad Bombers @ Adbu Prison
Round 13: Gumbies FFC @ rfctigerarmy’s hippodrome

A great win against Mount Buller Demons gives Furies a fighting chance at making finals (pun intended). They do need to jump through many hoops and the odds are closer to zero percent than 1 percent, but the opportunity is still there. Dragons (currently 10th) this week will be a very important game for both teams, as the loser will 100% be unable to make finals. After that they have an incredibly difficult last 2 games against Bombers (currently 4th) and Gumbies (currently 1st) to end the season.

Furies are still technically in finals calculations, but they would need to beat 2 of the current top 4 teams as well as hope Swamprats and Phoenix only win one game each. It starts with beating the Dragons this week away from home. I wish them the best of luck.

Likely Final Ladder Position: 11th

Losing to the Roys on the weekend means Bears are officially out of finals contention. It has been a rough season on the qooty field in Las Vegas. I'm sure tony and co. are already preparing to make some changes for next season. They'll get some high draft picks which I'm sure will help in recruiting some top end talent to the club. Bears still have some big games coming up against the Demons and Bombers where they could help end those teams top 4 chances. But apart from that, there isn't much left to be looking forward to on the qooty field for the Bears.

Likely Final Ladder Position: 12th

Coney Island Warriors
Fixtures:
Round 11: East Side Phoenix @ Van Cordlandt Park

Losing to the Swamprats spells the end of the Warriors finals chances. A horror season for them where they lost the first 4 games of the season and couldn't quite turn it around after that. Carrying the worst points for total as well as the worst points against average, the Warriors will be looking to completely change up their team dynamic for next season. I'm sure Tonga Bob will already be looking for prospective recruits to bring in and help turn around the on-field performances of the team.

Likely Final Ladder Position: 13th

Likely Final Ladder Position: 3rd (Away Qualifying Final)

Ophidian Old Boys

Premiership Puzzle Pieces (key players): Bonz (top goal-kicker), Tigerturbulance (top tackler), Elton Johns Wig (top disposal getter)

Likely Final Ladder Position: 4th (Away Qualifying Final)

Premiership Puzzle Pieces (key players): Bluelegs (top goal-kicker), Tarkyn_24 (top tackler), sante (top disposal getter), Hate (top hitout ruckman)

Likely Final Ladder Position: 7th (Away Elimination Final)

Likely Final Ladder Position: 6th (Home Elimination Final)

Premiership Puzzle Pieces (key players): okeydoke7 (top goal-kicker), Grav (top tackler), GremioPower (top disposal getter)

Likely Final Ladder Position: 9th

Premiership Puzzle Pieces (key players): Itsmyshow (top goal-kicker), MP_ (top tackler), Chipmunk (top disposal getter)

Likely Final Ladder Position: 8th (Away Elimination Final)

Fighting Furies

Las Vegas Bears
Fixtures:
Round 11: Mount Buller Demons @ Snow Dome
Round 12: Dragons FFC @ Ljp86’s Lair
Round 13: Baghdad Bombers @ The Stadium in the Sky

Round 12: Roys FFC @ Van Cordlandt Park
Round 13: Mount Buller Demons @ Snow Dome

Losing to the Swamprats spells the end of the Warriors finals chances. A horror season for them where they lost the first 4 games of the season and couldn't quite turn it around after that. Carrying the worst points for total as well as the worst points against average, the Warriors will be looking to completely change up their team dynamic for next season. I'm sure Tonga Bob will already be looking for prospective recruits to bring in and help turn around the on-field performances of the team.

Likely Final Ladder Position: 13th
Team dynamic is fine, almost the best it’s been. The sim could go with some work tho.
