But that may not happen. If the ladder stays the same and Brisbane finish first and dispose of Fremantle in the Qualifying final, and we beat Port at Subi in the other Qualifying final. Then that would mean we would have to play our Preliminary Final in Melbourne. Because at least one game must be played at the MCG in each round of the finals.

Given that Brisbane finished first, they would get home preference at the Gabba and we would again be bent over and ****ed up the ass. Stupid rule....

But Im just taking it one week at a time.

I think many of us are underestimating the Saints.

Remember last year when we went over there, they spanked our a$$es?

Plus they are a better side this year and play a potent running game similar to the Bummers. I would not pencil it in as a win that easily.

Let's not forget that last year we only beat Carlton by a point, our away form was not exactly thrilling.

I don't think the St Kilda match will be a walk in the park, but we will probably win it quite comfortably.
As great as those kids they've got are, will they still be playing like that come Rnd 18?

We'll have to wait and see.

round team
11 bullies win - but they're not playing as bad as 16th would suggest
12 bris - lose, gallantly
13 roos - win
14 syd - lose
15 carlton - win
16 port - lose
17 hawks - win
18 stk - no idea. Not game to predict*
19 adel - win
20 geel - win, but it's a long season.
21 melb - win
22 freo - lose

14-7-?

* Agree with Goldenblue, those kids are special, and are only going to get better. They may well lose the plot, but faint memories of rd10 last year remain. :(

I would be unhappy with less than 16 wins. I see all games as winnable form here on, but I don't expect to beat Brisbane or Port. I will be utterly stoked if we do win them all, but I expect we will end up 16-6, due to an accidental loss at either Skilled or the SCG.

Geelong are always hard at Kardinia Skilled, not matter who plays them there, and Sydney is dangerous at the SCG.
Brisbane and Port are indomitable at home, so I won't even think about winning there. Not this year anyway.

Eagle_fan, with all respect.

Being an Eagles supporter and using statements as the above is akin to saying " i'm not a homosexual - but the last 5 guys I slept with were"

Rnd 22 is our home game. We beat them when it was thier home game - why should we drop this one ??

We are better than them !!

Freo is a danger game because their matches against us are always their 'grand finals'.

And "home" & "away" games against Freo and vice versa dont exist considering theyre both at Subi

I know we have had a mental advantage on them in the past but I think from here-on-in the games will be split about 50/50 regardless of what position the teams are on the ladder. Rd22 could really go either way. Sure, we are probably a 2-3 goal better team than them but look at the Essendon game, we should have won that and lost.

Au_Blue#24, with all respect. I don't agree. It's round 11, we're second, and they're fourth. Both in good form. In this comp, there's not much between any of the teams, let alone 2nd and 4th both at their dominant home ground. And to be perfectly honest, their form at home has at times been better than ours, in terms of winning margins and absolutely demoralising opposition.

Obviously I want us to win. But at this point in time, considering they have something to prove from the last derby and also our recent record in 2nd derbies of the year, I'll jot it down as a loss. I guess some of us just prefer pessimism :) Please don't ever question my loyalty :)

One game at a time.

Speculation about whether we can beat Freo in Round 22 is utterly pointless - about as valuable as a sabre contribution on an Eagles board topic (whine, whine, "but Polak is better than Sampi", "Medhurst is a star", "our players are better than your players").

Top 4 does NOT guarantee a home final, though it does a double chance.

We can win any game, including Brisbane away. And I believe the players believe that too.

In fact, never mind one game at a time, what about one contest at a time?

I hope so, that's the only one I have pencilled in as a certain loss.

I wasnt questioning your loyalty, just your sanity.

It was mostly tongue in cheek - but i cant see how a wc fan can predict a loss against freo at our own home game.

Also their form at home has not been as impressive as ours.
Our margins have been greater.
