Shit yeah forgot about that, if the forum was public wouldn't we get carded for posting abusive & troll shit since all the Hawthorn supporters can read it?

Its like free speech sanctuary in here :D

**** the Whorethorn supporters.

They can go and eat their jumper. (ie. pooh and wee.)

But yeah I see what you're saying, I wouldnt want anyone just dropping in here hanging shit/trolling then dropping out...

My first impression of this forum (aka chit chat) was there is an established clique and I was an outsider. I assume other people probably see it like that as well and are hesitant to interact with the cool kids.

I thought that too. So I just kept posting until someone listened to me :p

I've got to ask. Why does this board need more traffic through it?
Does it matter?

I've got admit that now I think about it. I'd post less in here if it was public.
I post mostly drivel in here.

I need an alias for use in here :)

It doesn't need more traffic necessarily, but a board thrives on the back of a good 'community', and right now I feel this board could be used a whole lot more effectively - in the same way that other social boards are able to. Whether making that public is the right way to do it is another matter. Now that Shell got me to realise that there are 230 posters that can access it, it makes me think perhaps it isn't the way to go.

(Generally) why would they enter here though? They barely even make it to the Geelong Board. Same goes for us on their private board, have you ever ventured there?

I have ventured onto the Sydney Swans social board a while ago....

Dam they are a weird lot over there. :D

Is it possible to make it automatically public for anyone whose team is listed as Geelong? That would probably work better, and while it would open up a weakness if someone changed their team just to view it, it seems a waste of time for them.

Will investigate.

Good idea. :thumbsu:

But still have the "sponsor" system going for those who arent fortunate enuff to be Geelong supporters.

Dont want Ljp and Mags to lose their SP access now.

No because it's private:rolleyes:

and we're still not listening:D

That we've noticed:D

There are still plenty of douchebags who support Geelong though.

please don't let the govenor in here.

Well I think the realisation that 230 people are signed up to The Scratching Post means that most likely the relatively low traffic isn't a problem of it being private.

I am going to try to get some new 'on-going' threads going (be my guest if you want to start others).

Also when I rehash the stickied threads in the off-season I'll make sure to have a clear redirection here.

As a one-off action, I can probably arrange it.

The board was made private for a couple of reasons.

* So that people can post information that is best not known to opposition supporters
* So that supporters can talk without ridicule from opposition supporters.

If the mods on this board decide to make it public again, all existing threads and posts will be available to be seen by all.

I just don't see why it's needed.
What's the deal with having more traffic through the scratching post? Why does it matter? Or is the chief missing some additional coin because we are not active in here?

.

Fair enough.

And some new threads would be good. :thumbsu:

Which is what I do not want to happen, that is for sure.

Well i wouldn't want it made public. Chit chat is the only place where I post and i can post in here without worrying how I sound which is not the case with the main boards. Also it's not just limited to football and Geelong and if u made it public it probably would revolve around football more and be more serious. If people want serious discussions they have the main boards and if they want "chit chat" they can just join. Plus more people are interested in the main boards only on football so why would that even change if it was made public? And like mentioned far too private things have been posted in the past that if it became public would be visible. So yeah I disagree with making it public.

As an outsider, making this board public would be the wrong way to go. A lot of personal information has been posted here and is done so on a fairly regular basis as those in here have gotten used to the fact that this is quite a private board. Making TSP a public forum risks a lot of this information becoming public, some of which I imagine is rather private (names, seat numbers at games etc).

Revealing this board not only makes it visible to other Geelong fans but also opposition fans who would then be free to post in here. Whilst I imagine a lot of them wouldn't do anything, this site attracts a lot of idiots and people who are generally just ****ed in the head. You'd then be open to people trolling and mucking around with people's personal info that has been posted in here. I could also see a lot of shit going down if some of the more sinister members of limboclub.com managed to get a hold of personal info in TSP. That could lead to names and pics being posted and is a whole of shit that is not worth going through. Trust me, it'll be a recipe for disaster.

Some of my own info is in here for people to see and I'd rather not see that becoming public (i.e my first name). Only one person knows my full identity on here and that's cause I play indoor cricket with him once a week and I'd rather keep that and also everyone else's info private.

So my vote is "disagree".

I reckon you're over-worried about the whole thing, deej. There's PLENTY of inane posts both on our Geelong board and the main boards in general. Shit posters abound, and verbal diarrhea seems to be the order of the day for some people. Just like real life!

Haven't talked to you directly before but I see nothing bad about the way you frame your posts in here.

Haha alright thanks but I still probably won't bother with the main boards. I generally don't have anything worth mentioning and if I do it usually is already said.
