just got access to this board and i like the idea of a private place for discussion away from the flogs and trolls

I like SJ's suggestion of getting a few perpetual threads going.

back in the day i used to be a regular on http://zgeek.com and one of my favourite threads there was the "Random Picture Thread". Just posting random stuff from the internets can be fun.

Similar thing for youtube could be made to.

Welcome, put ya feet up, make yourself at home. :thumbsu:

And on a day as beautiful as this crack open one of these:

I am looking at The Scratching Post to go public in the next few weeks.

The migration to XenForo means the moderators no longer have any ability to give access to private boards (only admin has that right).

Furthermore this place has had very little activity over the past two or three years. I am looking to raise its profile to that similar to general chat areas on other club boards.

I am mindful that there may be things posted here that individuals may not want public. At this point the only option may be to delete existing threads.

I am willing to listen to current Scratching Post users to hear their feedback before any moves are undertaken.

Ah so this topic is back on the agenda.

Anything that may get Darren Foreskin over to this board, I'm on board. :thumbsu:
Chief has also suggested maybe starting a new board instead and letting this one go, to protect private information on here.

It will still be called TSP yeah? And we're not starting Chit chat from 1?!?!

Otherwise I quit.

Lol, seriously, im pretty sure I was against this whole thing going private anyway. The more the merrier imo.

If this forum was 100% public I would probably adjust my posting behavior to a higher than usual level of anonymity. And I would think people would not want to post their match day seats & meets and all that guff.

You don't need to make the forum public to bring the public to the forum necessarily.

And I especially don't like Hawthorn.

Hahaha right on.

We can still post defamatory comments though? Because Sicko has totally been planning a terrorist attack for years*

*hai ASIO, we need to discuss the merits of my cocaine importation business, I need a hand.

I remember at the start to around the middle of this year I had access to this board and could see all the Chit Chat threads etc. Then for a while it disappeared. Now it's here again...

whaa.

Lol we are not "cool". We may be alot of thing but not that. :D

But fair enuff that was your opinion back then.

Another point is the "meet up" threads on the main board. We ALWAYS encourage new people to come along- i dont think its clique at all. And I remember cliques in high school- they were all about excluding people from joining in and I dont think we do that here. :)

Bold bit- speak for yourself young lady, i'm super cool:D

Is there anything that sensitive? One of the major reasons for making this board private was to allow a more open discussion about the GFC, but that didn't happen and as a concept, the private boards haven't really been a success. Time to open it up.

There are 32 'Chit Chat' threads where posters have posted to eachother using information that otherwise they may not have wanted in the public sphere, so yes.

If you have a concern about any threads, then they can be deleted, the chit chat threads aren't exactly meant to be public record so no loss. We wouldn't a new board with no content. If you like I can email all members of the usergroup advising them of the change in status and that if they have concerns, to contact you so we can work through things.

Whilst the board might be technically private, it is still 'public' in that it wasn't invite only and that anybody who joined did so knowing that the only restriction on who can view the content was that the viewer had to declare themselves a cats fan.
