Given the little champ is going into bat for our little champ, I think it's only fitting for our favourite non-north player to have his own thread.

I'll start..

I don't like the free kick "learn to tackle better" rubbish. I don't like it from Thomas, Thompson or any number of players from various teams. No doubting his courage, skill and tenacity though.

He's a slimy snakelike campaigner either way. He didn't seem remotely believable last night on Ch9. He wants Boomer to miss.

Regardless of your overall opinion of Selwood, he couldn't have done much more for Harvey in his Ch.9 interview last night.

In a league of odious clubs legislated lopsidedly by the AFL I find it hard to not have great respect for Geelong. I see them as allies.

Probably got to do with Moons and Lingy having love for us.

Yeah, truth be told I like the way Geelong go about it.

Forget that they get their stadium built for them by government money, forget that as a consequence that they rake in bazillions while we struggle to make a buck despite drawing the same crowd, forget that the media fawn over Bartel and Selwood who, despite their inkling to manipulate situations to draw free kicks, are gun footballers, forget their decade of relative success. They play football the right way, their management is just really ****ing good and their leadership off field are vocal about the imbalances of the manipulated AFL environment.

They're a good club.

Regardless of your overall opinion of Selwood, he couldn't have done much more for Harvey in his Ch.9 interview last night.

I reckon he could have done a fair bit more. We could have done without the talk of being off the ground for up to 10 minutes and he could have used the words barely felt it.

Love the way he goes about it, massive respect for a hugely talented individual. (Ridiculously over-the-top hand gestures) Enormous capacity to use his unbelievable intelligence and game smarts and risk injury to draw a free kick.

With him in the side, Geelong always have excellent representation at the ruck stoppages.

With Selwood as captain you just get the feeling that they'll always be competitive, won't they?

I don't like him nor dislike him but he has as much to lose, some might say more, if Boomer gets a week.

A worthy premiership player nonetheless.

My view won't change of him regardless of tonight.

Fantastic footballer. (my mum always said if you don't have something nice to say, don't say anything at all)

But I honestly hope that he cops an injury from his cheating antics in the near future as it is the only thing that might stop him and he (and his brothers) are an absolute blight on the game (not to mention a danger to themselves).

However hard it might be, one should try not to wish ill on a player ( given the Neil Sachse injury from years ago).

In any event there are far worse candidates than Joel Selwood.

This is true. I know it is bad form on my part. I would normally just wish for the AFL to fix the rules and stop paying him those stupid free kicks but we know that isn't going to happen

It will happen but the change will happen as they say "organically", ie you won't see the change happen but one day it will just be there.

I appreciate him going in to bat for Boomer but I still hate the way he throws his head back and plays for free kicks at any possible opportunity
