What is it about playing in Tassie, almost every game we play down there is low scoring, poor skill level and just awful. The game today was bad, but i've seen worse, a game a few years back vs North, earlier this year vs west coast, round 1 2006/7 vs fremantle, last year vs Brisbane (first half), I could go on and on but seriously I'm seriously struggling to find any entertainment in watching games from Tassie.

It would be obvious to say that it's due to the team playing down there (aka Hawthorn) but other teams seem to be equally as bad with their skills in Tassie. In Melbourne I have seen some poor games over the past few years (apart from the snore fest vs StKilda in 2007) I can't think of any games we have played in Melbourne that come close to the frustration of watching games played in Tassie.

I was going to start an identical thread.
Games there are rubbish and it's no wonder that free to air won't touch them.
Why? Stadium too open? Too windy? Too Big? Groung too soft? Grass too long?
Perhaps a local could tell us if this has always been the case.

Local team skills were better than the Hawks skills. Hell, the Auskick kids were better. Brisbane didn't have too many problems after half time.

The Wind wasn't really noticable at Ground level (But above the stadium roof it was noticable, hence kicks above goal post height would drift.

I've really got no idea why the games are often floodfests here. Today was simply one team not working hard enough and an over-use of handball. This ground is big enough that you can kick the ball.

It's a great surface. Very flat, very lush, and one of (if not the) best drainage.

That said there's a crosswind (and today we had the southerly - makes it swirl all over the ground).

Any of the local teams show a better class of skill/disposal.

You can put some to the conditions today, but a lot was due to the way the two teams went about it.

Its a good question even when St.Kilda played their home games down they seemed to really struggle even when they were flying, the games always seem to be a real arm wrestle with the winner just slogging away for a win!

Slightly off topic, but does anyone here know what proportion of Tasmanian home games we win, in comparison to our MCG home games?

The media acts surprised whenever we lose in Tassie, but I seem to remember quite a few losses.

I agree. Hate watching games down there to be brutally honest.

The almighty $$$ is going to dictate that we continue to go down there.

The moment Hawthorn step foot onto that ground they try to play a uncontested run wide sort of game style.

Players rack em up and feel good about there stats but to be honest the game style we play down is absolutely shiiiit and boring to the point where you want to turn the channel over.

I will say this again.

You need a gamestlye that plays to your strengths and maximises your chances of winning.

When you have 2 key gun forwards and you chip the bloody thing around at half back and play keepings off when you are kicking with a 4-5 goal first qtr breeze was some of the dumbest brain dead crap football we have played in 5 years.

Anyhow I will try and forget.
