I've bailed on this podcast; is anyone still listening?

Not sure what the tipping point was....there probably wasn't one, it was just a gradual thing over time.

Didn't help that Hutchy's "Business of the Week" segment recently happened to be an advertiser on SEN.

Will probably tune in again one day if/when something blows up at SEN. I'm a bit like that.

Both have always been compromised but since hutchy becoming CEO and Damo suckling on the AFL teet it is very vanilla.

I lost interest but it was when covid started and there was no AFL to talk about.

I plan to start listening again when the AFL season starts.

I still listen. More out of habit than anything, and only to the main podcast. There’s not much else like it in terms of its analysis of sport and the Australian media industry.

But it is a far cry from 4-5 years ago when it first started. Hutchy didn’t have his fingers in as many pies back then so was more willing to speak his mind, rather than the corporate line he has to take with everything now.

And there’s only so many times you can hear about Dylan Howard, or how Damo is mates with Tony Abbott.

Why do they spread the show and the questions segments over 3 days? It's annoying. Is it a sneaky way of increasing their download numbers?
Has to be. If you look on the SEN website, they're always quoting downloads and listens, but not total listening minutes or anything of substance. So if your podcast app automatically downloads all the extra shit, you're probably counted even if you delete them straight away like I do.

I think the quality has dropped a bit this year but possibly to be expected
Can’t believe it’s been 6 seasons
They should just give their opinion more freely instead of proclaiming not to be experts on stuff, probably right that Craig is compromised. Damo is still too beholden to “the run sheet” and can feel his fluster during tangents which are more interesting anyway. I’m glad Spin City is done, always a bit lame

I still listen weekly and enjoy it. It's probably the only medium where I find Hutchy somewhat likeable. He knows his stuff when it comes to the commercialisation of sport. Damo I'm not a huge fan of, but he and Hutchy seem to bounce of each other well.

This was a pisser

I still listen out of habit i guess but only to the main show, not the questions. It is no where near as good as it used to be they are both to scared to voice their opinions these days. Still get the odd chuckle but its pretty standard these days.

Yep, I'm with most of the above recent posters - it's definitely got worse over time as both Hutchy and Damo play more straight bats to anything slightly controversial.

But, it's still a good listen and the only decent media/sport crossover poddy around (as far as I'm aware).

I'm still a weekly listener. Hutchy has grown on me this year through this show, the "thawing" is real. He's less of a pompous arrogant twat and more human. I think COVID has had a positive effect on him, in terms of realising what's important in life.

The Scorecard segment has been a good addition.

I've always enjoyed Hutchy, his sense of humour is shining through more this year though, and as you said he's been more human.
Just about done with Purple though, not sure I can handle listening to him on it much longer, is just a negative whinging prick about EVERYTHING

It's weird, for me I've come around to enjoying Hutchy much more than Damo, when at the start it was much the opposite for me.

Damo's hard on for PVL is so embarrassing, he knows nothing about racing and obviously has a bee in his bonnet about someone at racing Victoria who has annoyed him and a school yard crush on PVL. He's not objective at all and most of the stuff he says is just plain wrong, can tell hutchy would love to call him out but he knows he'll be called bias even though SEN is involved with racing all over Australia not just Victoria.

bottom line Damo is a precious little flower.

I think PVL's record with the NRL is questionable, but I agree with Damo that he and Racing NSW are running circles around Racing Victoria. Melbourne used to own the Spring racing calendar, but now (with the help of a truckload of cash) Sydney have the Everest, which has become bigger than the Caulfield Cup, and even the Golden Eagle out-rated Derby Day on the weekend

You can tell Hutchy is over it as well, basically flat out saying to him that he doesn't know anything about racing last ep was as harsh a genuine slap as I've heard on that show, and Purple got bulk offended but still could only throw back a child like "I know more than you"

Still have had enough of Purple, but I could absolutely listen to war stories about Hutchy doing everything to get ahead as a young journo all day long
