It's not anywhere near ready for construction. After plans and permits it has to be completely cleared, levelled, many tests, plumbing needs to be done and a raft of things before concrete is poured..
Just my opinion they have done a whole heap of work pulling everything down and cleared a lot getting it ready for the plans they were going to do before the stadium was decided to be put there

The site has mostly been all pulled down ready for construction to start for awhile now
it’s not going to be a high roof and it won’t be retractable I’ve heard complaints about cricket not being able to be played under the roof
8 metres lower than marvel is still pretty high that’s what was mentioned in the stadium document

I think they are underestimating tassie supporters. They'll need more than 23k. Plus you'd want interstate fans to travel and be able to get tickets. Which they won't be able to with 23k. There goes tourism $
Pro Tassie crowd it is then lol. Turn it into a really hostile environment.

Stadium needs to be 30k, what is the point of 23k, a mere 3k on Bellerive capacity?
Retractable roof would be good, more options for other events and more comfy for our less hardy mainland brethren.
Don't really care about any other design stuff, just hope they sort out the transport options - as well know getting in and out of town is a pain in the butt.
Blundstone having a 20k capacity is a complete falsehood. I attended the two sellouts against Richmond. It was chock full. The amount of congestion outside and inside the ground was awful. Traffic, queues for days. Recall going to get a beer just before quarter time and didn’t get back to my seat until about 12 mins into the second quarter.

P is Mac Point. CBD directly to the right. Two roads directly below Mac Point go to the bridge across the river and to the Northern suburbs.

I don’t think they’ll want people driving to the game as parking will be limited. There will be more announcements re. public transport infrastructure I think. There’s also a possibility they will get the rail back up and running and it runs directly past the would be stadium, and that would carry a ton of people from the northern suburbs.

We already have a ferry that delivers people from the Eastern Shore to the CBD and you’d think they’d have a ferry terminal outside the stadium.
I suspect that the Tassie club will request for most of their home games to be at night or Sunday so they don’t clash with local footy. I would have thought that during these particular time slots there’d be a reasonable amount of parking in the CBD available.

Yes it really depends on how many people you cram into the hill and they tend to have less hill seating tickets these days so people on the hill have more room. You wouldn't want to have over 18,000 at the ground

Ok let's say 18k. 23k is 5k more. And yes I agree it's a nightmare getting to and from Bellerive.

My point isn't about using/upgrading Bellerive, my point is if we are going to spend a significant amount of money building a new stadium, surely a larger capacity than 23k would be appropriate? I honestly believe we could get 30k crowds here - we have a lot of footy fans (I'd say it's more popular that cricket) in the state that would get behind the team and there would be plenty of interstate fans that would fly over to make a weekend of it.

The Stadium Capacity Optimisation report did claim crowds of 30,000 were achievable... for finals. But the projection was a low of 13,000 vs GWS/GC, while increasing capacity from 22.5k to 25k would only make a difference for 2 H&A games per year.

Hard to argue with that I guess.

Apparently there will be a protest about this next week.

Ridiculous people like this hold this state back from progress.
Unfortunately this was a given, can not make everyone happy. Luckily they are wasting their time.

The official design process for the stadium has not commenced. When commenced the design process will include full consultation with key stakeholders and will include consideration of strategies to mitigate any potential impact on views both to and from the Cenotaph associated with the specific location and final height and shape of the stadium in the Macquarie Point precinct.

LIMINAL Architecture has prepared this initial stadium key views analysis based on Aurecon’s report prepared as part of the stadium site feasibility process undertaken in 2022.

For initial planning purposes a height of RL40 metres at the highest point of the roof pitch has been assumed. A stadium size of 240m long x 210m wide has also been assumed. This does not include a concourse around the stadium.

For comparison purposes, this stadium height has been compared to Hobart’s tallest building, the Wrest Point Hotel Casino which is around twice as high as the stadium. Based on the floor level heights of the casino the current planned stadium heights compare to just below 7 levels at the sides and just under 9 levels at the roof pitch point. Based on comparison to a city office building the floor levels would be around 8 levels at the sides and around 10.5 levels at the roof pitch.

The final specific location of the stadium on the site and exact shape and height, including RL commencing height, will not be determined until the official design process is undertaken

Depends how legally binding the agreement with the AFL is to build a new stadium and whether change of government could affect it.
Believe it’s locked in regardless of government. So good luck to them 😊👍

100%.
They're not going to wait all this time for a Tassie team, finally get it and then leave it wide open for another government to overturn it.
No way.
