I think Weatherald will be like a bonus player in the latter half of the tournament. He's not playing badly, just getting out. On the flip side, I think we might start to see Carey have a lean run.

who was it that said they thought carey was in for a form slump?

So Carey ends the tournament with scores of 32,25,18 and Weatherald with 65,3,56,57,115. Not exactly a form slump but Weatherald certainly lifted the workload off Carey's shoulders.

Scored 2 tons in the JLT and has gone well in the Shield

First time in 13 years an SA team hasnt completely screwed a final.

Hopefully thats the gorilla of the back for some of our Redback players.

Not true.

We won the 20/20 tournament the year before it turned into the Big Bash - i remember being on the hill when we won.

I'm looking for the results on the net now...

EDIT: um maybe true, forgot it's 2018 now, and we won it in 2004 or 2005, which is 13 years ago. Yikes i feel old.

SECOND EDIT: Nope, definitely not true, turns out we won in 2010/11, which makes sense, last 20/20 game played as the Redbacks, when we became Blue

Well done Strikers. Great to finally get the break through win.

On a side note, nice to see a national competition actually acting like one by rewarding the higher ranked side with a home Grand Final. Yes I am still salty.

Interesting to compare the two reactions had the Crows won the GF.

Tonight it was enjoy the celebrations then pretty much go home. No big after party to celebrate, and not sure if I'd have gone if they had one.

Now if the Crows had won in September, I probably would've gone to the post match on the MCG, celebrated wildly, done a nudie run down Swan St, and then celebrated the entire trip home and a few days beyond that.

Said the same thing to my partner on the way out of the ground. Explaining that while I was quietly chuffed, if that had been the crows I would probably be in tears, completely beside myself and not come home for about three days due to wild celebrations. She rolled her eyes of course ha!

Do they have an official post match for the BBL?

Nah, it just isn't the same as Adelaide and Hobart playing at the MCG in front of supporters who can afford to travel and Melbournians who don't really give a shit.

Pfft! I’m still celebrating, as are the players

20 minutes after the game finished on Sunday my son told me I didn’t look very excited. I said I was happy but there’s only 7-8 weeks of build up and excitement in BBL. With the Crows there’s 7-8 months of build up and excitement, and I allow myself to get emotionally invested. Not enough time for that to happen with the bash.

Yep. Short, sharp and shiny entertainment. Fills the summer beautifully as the test matches are winding up.

Even when it comes to memberships it's two totally different feelings.

For the Crows, I was choosing between hat and scarf during the finals, and the first debit for my 2018 membership came out a few weeks after the GF.

For the Strikers, I renewed by membership 3 weeks before the season started. In fact, my member packs for both the Strikers and Crows came a couple of days apart. The Strikers membership is now done and dusted and hung up with all my other membership cards - I still have 6 weeks of build up (and an AFLW season) before I even use my Crows membership.
